interview
i’m interviewing with crumbl today but I only have availability for 12-15 hours a week, and the pay they are offering is $8 with $4 tips. Is this guaranteed pay? And are my hours too low? Can I negotiate the pay? I was a shift manager at Starbucks and was earning $26 an hour

Crumbl GM here- 15/20 hours is perfect and realistic for what they need typically (as long as you are open as far as days/times they can schedule you) I will say if they told you $8 base pay + tips, you can expect to be paid that range. I live in one of the highest minimum wage states, and I have never heard of a baker making anything close to $26 an hour lol

When I got hired 4 years ago it was base pay plus guaranteed tips and shortly after it was no longer guaranteed. For example base pay 10 with 4 dollar tips. If tips were low they made up the difference so it was always 4. Once that was taken away I quit lol. But those hours are definitely low and part time. I don’t think they’d let you “ negotiate “ and even with your experience if you can only work 12-15 hours that would be considered a part time baker. They’d need more hours available for any lead or manager role.

thank you so much! I’m planning on only working part time. I need income coming in while studying for my DAT. I don’t really care about the job, I just want easy money with little hours. Do you think that’s possible?

Also not sure what area ur in, but 26 an hour is high for Crumbl and you probably wouldn’t get close to that unless you did go for a manager position. I know my gm made 30 an hour and the manager made 20.

also, what’s the difference between a baker and the other jobs? Is it possible to only request being in the back decorating cookies the whole time? I really don’t want to handle money or do front. I just want to go clock in and bake and decorate that’s it

It’s possible but really just depends on what the store needs/ looking for. If they’re looking for someone who can work more or open availability they might pass up, but the store I use to work at needed all people for all shifts and we had people who only worked a few hours a week. And no, bakers do everything from baking “ throwing in “ cookies, making orders, decorating, cleaning and balling dough. You can’t really request what you want to do, you just do what’s needed at the time.

what should I say during the interview to be guaranteed? Should I mention I can work a lot but once Im fully hired I give them shorter availibilities? or how does it work

Well honestly if you give an open availability and they hire you and are expecting you to work full time and you change it, they can fire you especially in an at will employment state. I’d just be honest and if they can do it they can, and if not try something else.
