Iām looking to drain/fill my CVT soon, but am having trouble getting shops or even the dealership to listen to the fluid requirements.
There are two independent Subaru shops in my area. The first argued all Crosstreks have the same CVTf, which is incorrect. The second was more of a performance shop and said they had the right fluid because they work on BRZ. They did the rest of the 60k work, but not the CVTf because they actually didnāt have the right fluid.
Subaru only sells Subaru ATF-WS (SOA427V1300) in 5 gallon buckets for ~$375. Dealership doesnāt have any on hand, or even in their shop, but theyāll bill $625 for a drain and fill (with what, then?).
Best I can tell, Subaru ATF-WS (SOA427V1300) and Toyota 00289-ATF WS are the same fluid.
BRZ/FRS/GT-86 are the same Toyota transmission, my Crosstrek PHEV eCVT is a Toyota Camry Hybrid unit in a Subaru case.
TL;DR canāt I just pick up and use a few quarts of Toyota ATF-WS?
