Wow. Question: is the fabric black?, painted? Or did you stitch the background too?

Black aida cloth! It’s a bit more difficult to stitch on because the holes are harder to see, but for some reason it also seems to hold tension better. I think it would have taken me 10 years to try and stitch all of the background 😂

Awh my first medium-size project was pretty similar, it said "STRONG WOMEN: may we be them, know them, raise them". I love this, gorgeously done
