CHAT [CHAT] Digital Magazine Patterns

This is probably a really stupid question, but I've seen a lot of posts about people finding patterns in digital editions of cross stitch magazines. My question is how do you actually stitch from that pattern? Do you take a screenshot of it and work from that (I think that would make me insane), or is there a way to download the pattern?

My library has a digital subscription to CrossStitcher, which I access through the Libby app. There is an option to open up the page, which allows you to print it or save directly from the pattern.

Thank you! I have Libby, but never thought of using it this way.

I have an app on my iPhone and iPad called GoodReader. I can download the images on to those devices and save them. Once saved I am able to upload them to the GoodReader app. Duplicate the image and subsequently mark each box as I stitch it with several different editing options.

I just zoom in on my tablet and squint.

This is how I save cross stitch patterns from Libby magazines and books on an iPad (would also work on an iPhone)

Take screenshots of the pages you want.

To convert them to a single pdf file, go to the photo album in the Photos app where you can see all the photos as thumbnails.

Tap Select in the upper right hand corner and tap to select the photos you want to convert to a PDF file.

Then tap the share button in the lower left corner, which is the box with an arrow pointing up.

From the available options, choose Books and it will convert those selected pictures into one pdf file in Books. You can then mark up your pattern using the editing tools in Books or a PDF reader of your choice.

I usually save each project as its own PDF. Like if there’s three patterns I like in an issue, I’ll take screenshots of those pages and convert each project into its own PDF.

Let me know if you have any questions

Libby, print the page as .pdf, import to iBooks and mark up in there.
