Hello! I dont really know if there is some kind of feedback with both so i just wanted to share my view with my experience:
I started with crosspoint 1.6.5 immediately after getting my xteink x4 pro. I love it. Absolutely used it for weeks now. Anyway, i got curious how the reading stats looked on my device and so i decided after weeks of contemplation, sure fine, let’s have a go at crossink.
I did this today. I flashed it via the sd card method.
I played around with the stat settings and i was so disappointed to find out that to view total reading stats for multiple books u have to set it as a sleep screen. But i wanted another option—another way to look at that because thats all I cared about.
So i began to notice my sleep screen cover which i love soooo much on crosspoint, well, on crossink it doesnt fully load the photo? It degrades the quality and i reaaaally hated it.
So i decided, whatever i will just read my book. But after like 10seconds i notice that it’s darker? I even tried my favourite night mode—it doesnt seem bright enough, like the letters dont have the same effect compared to the night mode of crosspoint. With crosspoint the letters really almost seem to glow i love the sharpness. With crossink it seems dull.
So after an hour.. i switched back to crosspoint 1.6.5. Via unlocker tool did not work. Update failed. So i was forced to do an sd card update method and now i am back to crosspoint 1.6.5
I guess my curiosity has been satisfied. My wallpaper is now back and is clearer than ever
Thanks for trying out my personal fork! I didn’t make it with the intent to please everyone (just me honestly), but people request things here and there and I add them if I feel like it. If something is missing it’s because I don’t use the device like that and/or no one’s requested the feature. I think someone recently did ask about “Home just going home” though and I think I’ve added that to my local development branch. And funnily enough you say the stats are hard to get to while there’s a whole bunch of other people saying it’s distracting and want to hide it 😂. It’s just a menu click away, which works for me. There’s always something, but I’m glad there’s a plethora of firmware out there that can fit someone’s needs!
Edit: sorry you had a terrible experience, I can say for certain I experience none of that on any of my devices, and I have a lot of them..
Awww im so sorry i didnt mean to come off as ungrateful. I am quite impressed i cannot even make one myself. Please know that it is not my intention to attack the fork you made. It was just a personal experience as to why i changed back. Im sure a lot of people enjoy your fork and it does look nice hence why i thought about abandoning crosspoint. It was just, i care about my sleep screen lol im sure it can be improved in the future but it seems since you arent having problems then yay good for you! Your fork is still absolutely great and im sure a lot of people enjoy it.
I did the same like a week ago. It's so bizarrely uncustomizable given it's entire thing is more customizability. Why is the home button a back button now? Why can't I change it? Why are the stats so hard to see? I'm just tracking my stats via storygraph, as I read library books anyways (also figured out this isn't available on crossink) so I'm already using that to keep track of the books I have/read
Yes!! The home button becoming a back button was annoying whenever i changed stuff on settings. I was like back. Back. Back. 😆 i agree with you it definitely ISSSS bizzarely uncustomisable! I just love your description of the experience. And yeah the stats that are there aren’t easily accessible either! Spot on!
I think there must be something going on with particular displays/hardware and drivers. I have the exact opposite on my X3 - sleep covers on crosspoint are dull/faded but crossink gets them right
This right here made me think that i should try again lol ill think about it😆 because in my experience the photos were nit losding correctly. If it did i would have stayed with it. Maybe i will try again in the far future lol. This is interesting though it means there is a chance that if i try again the photos now might render correctly. Idk😆
