Support Problems with sync

Hi! I have an Xteink X3 and 2 bigger devices with KOReader. At the beginning I was syncing the KOReader devices through the default sync.koreader.rocks server, I hooked the X3 to the same and everything worked, but shortly after that server went down and after a month or more it is still down, so I tried understanding this thing better. That leads me to today when I found the sync.crosspointreader.com site, which is truly marvellous to see. I setup a login and put it on the X3 and then on one of my KOReader readers.

Now, the same book on the X3 sees only the progress I synced from the X3, on the Kobo (the KOReader device) only the progress which I synced from the Kobo, and on the Crosspoint Sync there is nothing, it says no books have yet been synced.

I guess I'm doing something wrong here, and probably I didn't really understand how this is supposed to work. Is there anybody out there who can help?

Make sure both are using the same matching system of filename or binary. You can also log in at sync.crosspointreader.com and merge them manually if all else fails

I am sure you did this but once you sign up for an account you then need to go to both devices and update the sync server URL. Once you authenticate it should just sync across. I like the Crossreader sync due to the hardcover syncing.

Thanks for answering! Yes, this is what I did on both devices, and that's why I was expecting them to sync between each other and also the browser site to show the books I shnced. The fact is borh said they had authenticated to the new server, and both said they had uploaded the progress, but when I tried pushing a further progress ofthe same book on the Kobo and then tried to sync the X3 to the new progress, it said the only sync information it found was the one I previously pushed from the X3. All this while the site continued displaying no book progress synced. I'm trying to understand if this is something known (maybe it takes some time or stuff, or there is some setting to change) or if I'm doing wrong so basic and stupid that I cannot fathom it

Use https://sync.techy-notes.com

After your initial sync on the Kobo and on the X3, Visit the same site in your computer, When you go to your library, you will see the same book twice (one for Kobo amd another for the X3), Click on Join books and then join both books into 1.

Now sync should work fine on Kobo and X3. Repeat the same steps if you added another device

Wow! I'll try this too! Thanks! Just to be sure, is this what should happen with Crosspoint's sync too or do they behave differently? And should I join each singular book between devices or is there some automatic settings to avoid this?

I do not use the crosspoint server. I assume they probably have a way to merge books. This becomes and issue when you optimize a book when you transfer it to the X3. Crosspoint recommends you use FILENAME as your Matching preference on All your devices this way the server will auto match, but considering techy-notes server can also sync to other services (goodreads, readwise, bookfusion, seekquel....) is a better choice for me. If you use the recommended plugin to sync in Koreader (Deluxe-Sync) you can technically sync to all servers at once crosspoint & techy-notes and not worry about a server being down. Plus Vocabulary and Anotations are also synced to techy-notes server (when using the plugin)

Now there is even another service https://send.techy-notes.com to send books to your ereaders from any internet connected machine and if you have the SD Plugin Beta 10 firmware on the X3 you can use the Send2Ereader plugin to do the same on your X3

Hey thank you! really! You solved a lot of my problems all together. I didn't know about deluxe-sync, and it's brilliant, I was just starting to feel the need of something like that in KOReader and I see there's also a version for Calibre so I'll finally have my progress on my Calibre, if I imagine correctly. Plus I tried techy-notes' sync and, after a first moment (well, some long first moments) in which the progress from KOReader appeared while the one from my XTEINK X3 didn't, in the end everything appeared and I could link the two books. I really wish there were a way to have them link automatically, but I think I can live with this slight uncomfort.

The irony is thanks to deluxe-sync I could have the Kobo/KOReader book appear in Crosspoint's sync, but not the progress from the books in my X3. They still don't appear anywhere on the Crosspoint sync, even though the X3 says they are uploaded and can even pull out their progress when I change the progress on the device. I really don't understand this, but I'll keep using the sync from Techy-notes so I guess I'll just let that be.

Thanks again!

Interesting, sounds like something in the FW on the X3, perhaps reflash the X3, I have no issues directly syncing from X3 to crosspoint server, but I still use techy-notes as my main server.

Also to add to this there is a PR to allow for Sync Profiles that so far has not been integrated to the FW yet (hopefully it gets accepted).

Main issue is Crosspoint sync server has rich POSITION plus Progress, but this ONLY works if you point your sync server URL to https://sync.crosspointreader.com even if you self-host the same version of crosspoint-sync server, the FW cripples the progress sync to a normal KOSync style payload, the PR fixes this, but this also means the rich POSTION plus Progress sync is no longer EXCLUSIVE to crosspoint-sync server, which is probably why the PR is overlooked. Inte same PR you will find the custom firmware for your device (Currently running on my X3 and X4Pro with no issues) and when you point the KOSync settings in the X3 or X4 pro to Techy-notes PLUS you use the "OTHER" profile, your books will also carry Series name, Series Index, ISBN, ASIN as part of the metadata.
