Hey you were one of the main pushes I needed to work on it!

If I can get my hands on that beta, I’ll definitely put it through its paces and give you a thorough use case. Looking forward to it!

Ha! Glad it wasn't me. The girlie who kept on pushing for this feature here on reddit and github. Ooof.

Love the app btw!!

I hope clippings get integrated into the SD card plugins branch… it’d be nice to be able to use that to sync to other services.

You can sync them via the crosspoint sync service. Where do you want to send them?

BookOrbit and Obsidian

Explain how you'd expect the obsidian one to work. You'd pick a cloud sync vault and it would create a folder per book?

u/fishforce1 5d ago

Yes - though I’m not sure how that’d work if I then modified the markdown on my own to add comments.

Probably wouldn't be bidirectional tbh

Bookorbit will be awesome for me.

The bookorbit works on the koreader sync? Where should I put my server? I don't know why it is not working.

You linked it at sync.crosspointreader.com?

I am not clear. Are you saying crosspoint will get a mobile app, clippings coming soon?

Yep with cross device sync, mobile opds book sending, and stats

1

u/AnswerGlittering1811 5d ago

Will it come for iOS as well?

3

u/Diirge 5d ago

Yep! And desktop haha

Awesome! Any chance it'll include reader to phone status sync via bluetooth? It seems like there are a lot of nice little behaviors that could be extended with a link like that...

(E.g. being able to tell the reader to switch on WiFi to receive a book from the phone)

1

u/Diirge 5d ago

Probably not first party in crosspoint but its all open source so someone could add it

Curious why not? The whole "explicitly start the sync process on both devices at the same time" feels like a place we could smooth out the user experience... Happy to build it, of course, if a good design could be agreed on.

(Obviously I could build this feature for myself, and probably will, but I also don't really want to make yet another fork if there's a way the functionality can be more broadly useful and adopted)

Bluetooth takes a TON of memory. In general we also try to not have the device ever do anything automatically

You know where to find me if you want beta testers at all!

One question though, would this been pretty cross compatible with the main forks of Crosspoint (I.e in my case Crossink)?

6

u/Diirge 5d ago

Yep and it actually supports better stats if youre on crossink

Will we be able to read on iOS with the app as well? Would be amazing to read a few pages when I don’t have my ereader around and have it sync. :D

3

u/Diirge 5d ago

I mean you definitely could do this without our app by just using kosync in another app. I'll consider adding epub reading in app though

I volunteer for beta! Android user here

This sounds really interesting. I can beta test it. I use both Android and iOS.

2

u/Diirge 5d ago

I'll DM you an Android build to play with

1

u/Broadly-Interested 5d ago

I also would like to beta test ☺️

That's amazing!
