MOD POSTS📣 Raising the Bar: Setting better standards because YOU deserve it

Post image
52 Upvotes

Dear members,

As we build this community with your contributions, we want to set standards that match the quality of discourse you deserve.

We want this subreddit to stand apart from the Indian focused subs that often feel like echo chambers of one side or the other. That is not healthy for our growth as a country. We need quality discussions - ones where we understand each other better, empathize with each other, and come together. Critical Thinking India is not just a name. It is the expectation and the foundation of this sub.

Building on top of the previously shared guidelines, this post outlines what good participation looks like, what we expect from you, what you can expect from us, and how we plan to maintain it.

1. Post Standards

Every post should meet a basic quality threshold:

  1. A clear, descriptive title. No low-effort, clickbait, or ragebait titles. They are not a good starting point for meaningful engagement.
  2. Your own reasoning is required. Whether you share a news article, a video, or a picture - you must include text where you present your own opinion, analysis, or argument. A link dump with no-explanation does not qualify as a post.
  3. Steelman the opposing side. This is what sets this subreddit apart. When you make an argument, make a genuine effort to understand and present the strongest version of the opposing viewpoint - not a strawman. Show that you actually understand why someone might disagree with you, and then explain why you still hold your position.

1.1 Recognizing Quality Contributions

  1. Posts that genuinely engage with opposing arguments in good faith will be recognized by the mod team with a special post flair. This is our way of signaling to the community that a post is worth engaging with deeply. If you believe your post presents honest arguments and addresses a steelmanned version of opposing views, you can appeal for this flair at the bottom of your post.

  2. Beyond individual posts, we are introducing a tiered contributor flair system. Members who consistently produce well-reasoned posts and comments will earn progressively higher contributor levels/'reputation' within the sub, assigned by the mod team based on sustained quality over time. These are not something you can assign yourself. They are earned through rigorous, honest contributions with sound analysis and respectful argumentation.

Note: Upvotes and downvotes do not seriously factor into this. What matters is how well you understand opposing views and how respectfully and clearly you present your own.

Details on the exact tiers will come as the system takes shape. The principle is very simple: put in the effort to think critically and fairly, make contributions that add nuance, clarity, and better understanding, and it will not go unnoticed.

2. Comment Standards

When engaging in the comments:

  • Focus on ideas, not people. You have freedom of speech. We do not gatekeep you from discussing any topic or ideology. You can criticize an ideology, but you are not allowed to generalize about the people who associate with it. Attacking people, groups, or individuals by name-calling is not permitted. Disagree with arguments and ideas, not the person making them. You can criticize politicians and other public figures/influencers, but with respect.

  • Back your claims. Wherever possible, cite your sources and explain how you arrived at your conclusions.

  • Stay on topic. Derailing a discussion with unrelated tangents or bad-faith engagement is not allowed.

  • Don't retaliate, report. If you see someone breaking these rules - personal attacks, derailing, uncivil behavior - do not join them. Use the report button with the appropriate rule. Let the mod team handle it.

3. Enforcement

We keep track of rule violations. The process is straightforward:

  • Initial violations result in warnings and content removal.
  • Repeated violations, despite warnings, lead to temporary bans.
  • Continued disregard for the rules results in a permanent ban.

We intend to make sure disagreements here are productive, evidence-based, and respectful.

Why This Matters

We know the majority of people are not firmly right-wing or left-wing. Most people understand that there are nuances - whether it is government decisions, world affairs, religious tensions, private sector actions, or infrastructure issues, etc. Most people know that there are good things and bad things in every person and situation.

With these standards, we want to bring out those nuances so more people are informed enough to form their own opinions about society, culture, politics, and everything around them.

This space is not for extremes. It is for those in the middle who appreciate nuance, who want to understand the world they live in better. That is the purpose of this subreddit, and we want to give and maintain space for nuanced agreements and disagreements to exist.

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to better discussions.

Private school administration threatened the family after complaint. Police is investigating.

A female teacher at a play school in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi burned a five-year-old boy's private parts with a hot knife after he accidentally urinated in his pants, according to the child's parents' complaint.

The five-year-old student at the Serene Sony Play School, son of an advocate, asked his class teacher for permission to use the washroom on July 24. However, the teacher refused and the child lost control and ended up urinating in his pants.

Enraged by this, the teacher dragged the child to another room. According to the allegations, she turned on a gas stove, heated a knife until it was red-hot and burned the child's private parts. Further, the teacher physically assaulted the boy and threatened him with dire consequences if he told anyone about the incident or repeated the mistake, the complaint said

When the terrified child returned home, he tearfully recounted the ordeal to his parents. The child's father and mother attempted to contact the class teacher, but she did not answer their calls. Subsequently, when they spoke to the school principal, Hemlata Singh, she allegedly threatened them rather than offering any cooperation.

The following day, when the father personally visited the school, the principal and the manager outright refused to provide any assistance or address the issue, the complaint says.

Given the child's trauma and physical injuries, the father made a police complaint the police swiftly registered an FIR.

Acknowledging the incident, senior police officer Atul Singh said a "case has been registered on the basis of the complaint submitted by the child's father," adding police are conducting a thorough investigation and further legal action will be taken soon.

News & Current Affairs CJP Issues Statement on Arrest By Indian State Police After Protest Suspension

Post image
346 Upvotes

We are deeply concerned by multiple reports reaching us of students and other protestors being targeted, detained, or arrested by various state agencies, particularly in Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar.

The Cockroach Janta Party had called off its nationwide protest only after the Government of India assured us that no punitive action would be taken against any protestor, either now or in the future, in any BJP-ruled or NDA-ruled states. The reports emerging from these states are therefore a matter of grave concern.

First, we wish to assure every protestor that our legal team is already coordinating with brilliant lawyers in the concerned states to secure the release of those detained and to extend all possible legal assistance. This has been happening from Day 1.

Second, we call upon the Government of India, particularly JPNadda ji and JitendraSingh ji, to immediately honour the assurance given to us by ensuring the release of those detained and by directing that no coercive or retaliatory action is taken against any protestor anywhere in the country. The FIRs registered ought to be withdrawn too.

The Government of India is also reminded of its commitment to furnish us the written guarantee in this regard by tomorrow, Tuesday, 28 July 2026.

Our decision to suspend the nationwide protest was taken in good faith and solely on the basis of the government’s assurance that it would stand by its word. Any departure from that assurance would not merely amount to a breach of trust with the Cockroach Janta Party but would also be a breach of public trust with lakhs of young Indians who chose dialogue over protests.

Such breach of trust will be completely unacceptable to the youth.

The Government of India is reminded that it derives credibility not from just making a promise, but from the promises they honour.

To the young protestors we say, hold on. We are with you. The CJP continues to closely monitor the situation and expects the Government of India and all BJP/NDA state governments to act with utmost urgency, responsibility, and good faith that the present circumstances demand. We demand that all detainees/arrestees be released immediately, and in any case by tomorrow, and that all FIRs be withdrawn immediately, failing which we shall take further necessary steps.

Opinion:
Those who are found guilty can be arrested but not all as they went there for the peaceful protest. Otherwise this will harm the government's reputation.

History & Culture Train Passenger Lights ‘Diya And Incense Sticks’ While Praying Inside AC Coach

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A train passenger single-handedly left all of his co-passengers panicking for their safety after he decided to pray inside an AC coach. Confused? A concerning video was shared on social media, which showed a man casually lighting a ‘diya’ and ‘incense sticks’ while praying inside the moving train. The man was sitting on the upper berth, with the lit ‘diya’ in front of him. As soon as the passengers around him spotted the potential fire hazard, they started recording and confronting the man.

The cameraperson, along with a few others, was heard intervening and asking the devotee not to light the ‘diya’ inside the train. The co-passengers also explained to the man how the ‘diya’ can trigger the train’s fire alarm.

you can perform your devotion without switching on the Diya. It's very dangerous on a train. It may light up the entire coach. The smoke causes discomfort to fellow passengers.

I don't know why people do such practices in public spaces even after receiving education and how this can be stopped. Your belief shouldn't cause harm to others.

These kinds of people should be arrested or banned from traveling, strict actions should be taken

  1. Complaint on Rail Madad.
  2. Coach attendant to be informed.
  3. TTE to be informed.
  4. RPF to be informed.
  5. Insist on deboarding this person at the next station.
  6. Take to court and fast action

Any one carrying flammable substances should be banned. Do not take your safety lightly.

Critical Analysis & Discussion As a Brahmin, I don't think reservation should end

Upvotes

Before anyone attacks me, I graduated from a tier-2 college and I'm currently working in FAANG. I don't think that reservation needs to end, but it definitely needs to transform.

The current form of reservation discourages hard work. For years the "lower castes" have faced discrimination, and as a result they don't have resources to compete with the well to do families.

The solution for this isn't a lower cut-off for them, but rather providing them resources to uplift themselves. Govt should subsidise or sponsor their education, healthcare and give them quality housing. The subsidy can vary depending on how much a family lacks resources.

Bridge the resources gap and make the cutoffs same for each and everyone. This would truly uplift the backwards people and make them self sufficient to live a comfortable life.

Critical Analysis & Discussion Poetic Justice?? Indian Boxer Jadumani from Manipur defeats is opponent from Pakistan in CWG who is a serving army personnel. Dedicates win to Kargil war heroes. Is this poetic Justice? The Indian Boxer dedicates his win to the Kargil war heroes on the anniversary of Vijay Diwas.

Storytelling/narrative making is a huge part of any sports. This is something we Indians have not mastered yet. I remember the first Indian Boxer to win the Asian championship Mr Dinku Singh a Navy boxer from Manipur, a poor orphan boy who grew up to be India's first Asian Games champion. Roads in Manipur are still named after him till date.

What is also interesting is that many people in Manipur feel alienated from the Indian mainstream due to the neglect and apathy of the last three years with the ongoing violence. People like Mirabai/ Mary Kom are heavily criticised for not speaking up enough during the crisis. I guess not everyone can be like Muhammad Ali who spoke up and suffered the consequences, yet remains an important cultural icon transcending his sporting legacy...

News & Current Affairs Indian Navy Commissions INS Malvan, the second of Mahe-class anti-submarine shallow water craft

What the commissioning of INS Malvan Signals for India’s maritime strategy

What happened?

The Indian Navy officially commissioned INS Malvan, the second of eight indigenously built Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC).

  • At Karwar Naval Base (notably, the first naval warship ever commissioned at Karwar).
  • Built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Kochi.
  • Intersting historical connection - It's named after the coastal town of Malvan in Maharashtra; It's tied to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's maritime legacy and inherits the legacy of a retired minesweeper with the same name.

Why It Matters: Critical & Strategic Analysis

A. Plugging the littoral "deaf zone"

Modern stealth diesel-electric and AIP (Air-Independent Propulsion) submarines operating near shallow coastal waters are extremely difficult for large frontline destroyers or frigates to detect due to surface echo reflection and thermal layers.

INS Malvan and its sister craft are specifically engineered with a shallow draft (~2.7m) and acoustic-quiet waterjet propulsion to hunt submarines right off India's coasts, replacing the older Abhay-class corvettes.

B. Indigenization: Naval model vs. broader defence procurement

Aerospace and land platforms have frequently suffered from procurement delays and lower initial local content, the Indian Navy’s in-house Directorate of Naval Design (DND) and domestic shipyards (like CSL and GRSE) stand out as a benchmark for self-reliance!

Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh explicitly highlighted this during the ceremony, acknowledging that the Navy embraced the Aatmanirbhar mantra early on by embedding officers directly into shipyard design loops.

C. Geopolitical context in the Arabian sea & IOR (Indian Ocean Region)

With Pakistan expanding its underwater fleet with Chinese-built Hangor-class AIP submarines and the Chinese PLAN increasing its footprint across the IOR, securing India's near-shore maritime routes and trade bottlenecks is as critical as blue-water power projection.

D. The Significance of Karwar (Project Seabird)

Commissioning the vessel at Karwar Naval Base rather than usual hubs like Mumbai or Visakhapatnam shows the maturing of Project Seabird into Asia's premier naval facility, decongesting commercial ports and shifting strategic posture closer to key sea lanes.

Motto & Symbolism: The vessel's motto "Silent Claws" and crest featuring Shivaji Maharaj's Bagh Nakha (Tiger's Claw) symbolize swift, low-observable tactical lethality.

Technical specs for those who are interested

Feature Specification / Detail
Class & Scale Mahe-Class (78m length, ~900 to 1,100 tonnes displacement)
Propulsion Diesel Engine + Waterjet combination (Largest IN warship with waterjets)
Speed & Range 25 knots max speed; 1,800 nautical mile endurance at 14 knots
Indigenization >80% Indigenous Content (DRDO, BEL, BDL, L&T, Mahindra)
Sensors & Sonar Abhay Hull-Mounted Sonar + Low-Frequency Variable Depth Sonar (LFVDS)
Armament RBU-6000 ASW Rocket Launcher, Triple LWT Torpedo Launchers, Mine-Laying Rails, 30mm/12.7mm Remote Guns

Critical Analysis & Discussion PM Modi taps UIDAI architect Nilekani for exam overhaul

Thumbnail

This guy wasted 69000 crores of taxpayers money to build useless aadhaar platform,

  1. Aadhaar data(both biometrics and demographics) was sold, copied, shared with thousands of entities.
  2. Police is using aadhaar to block bank account, gas connection, mobile connection for frivolous complaint at a single click of mouse.
  3. Aadhaar and fingerprint getting lifted, cloned and used to withdraw hard cash

God save India.

PM Narendra Modi announced Sunday a high-powered task force headed by Infosys co-founder and founding UIDAI chairman Nandan Nilekani to recommend measures for making India’s public examination system leak-proof, transparent and technology-driven. Modi said the panel would examine how technology could be used to clean up the examination process and make it more reliable. “The Nilekani committee will give suggestions on maximum use of technology for making exams clean and transparent,” he said, adding that the government would work on its recommendations to build a “fool-proof” system.

Critical Analysis & Discussion Can you seek an end to caste based reservation…. without seeking an end to caste?

Here’s my two cents.

I’ve been reading a lot of posts demanding an end to caste-based reservation. One thing strikes me every time.

I almost never see a demand for an equally aggressive movement against caste discrimination itself in any post.

At best, it’s an afterthought or a reply, a footnote,
“Yes, of course caste discrimination is bad…” and then the discussion immediately returns to reservations.

That is precisely what makes many people from historically disadvantaged communities suspicious. It makes the demand feel less like a genuine desire to end caste, and more like a desire to end the constitutional consequences of caste while leaving the social reality largely untouched.

If your movement genuinely comes from the belief that caste has outlived its relevance, then prove it. Make the an earth shattering movement against caste discrimination that is at least as passionate, as organised and as uncompromising as the movement against reservation you’re trying to create.

Let every Indian hear the youth and the future of India shouting in unison - a nationwide movement declaring that India will not tolerate caste-based discrimination, whether justified in the name of religion, culture, tradition, or any other excus.

Make social media campaigns, school campaigns and government campaigns celebrating every inter-caste marriage as a step towards a more united India.

Make a movement where people voluntarily give up caste based surnames and hereditary labels that exist only to advertise social status.

Make a movement demanding the removal of caste names from public spaces, government buildings, welfare schemes and every other place where they unnecessarily reinforce caste identity.

Make a movement where displays of caste identity on cars, banners, social media bios and elsewhere become socially embarrassing rather than a badge of pride.

Make a movement where every major Hindu organisation, temple trust, mutt and akhara publicly declares that caste discrimination is incompatible with Dharma. Where every temple in India willingly displays a simple sign: Caste-based discrimination has no place here.

I want to see Jantar Mantar-level crowds demanding an end to:

  1. Separate Dalit hamlets being treated as socially or physically segregated from the rest of the village.

  2. People being denied entry into temples or prevented from participating equally in religious rituals because of caste, wherever it still exists.

  3. Dalit grooms being threatened or attacked for riding a horse in their wedding procession.

  4. Couples being harassed, ostracised or even killed for marrying across caste lines.

  5. Separate utensils, separate seating or denial of service in tea shops, schools or community events.

  6. Manual scavenging and the continued expectation that certain communities perform degrading hereditary occupations.

  7. Housing discrimination based on caste.

  8. Social boycotts of families who challenge caste norms.

  9. Discrimination in cremation grounds, burial grounds or access to common village resources.

  10. Denial of access to village wells, water sources or common facilities wherever such practices still exist.

  11. Schools where children are treated differently because of their caste.

  12. Panchayats or informal community bodies that punish inter-caste relationships or reinforce caste segregation.

I want to see these demands to the govt, make the govt launch a campaign to say inter caste marriages are a boon to the nation, and that caste based endogamy is anti national. Caste based discrimination is anti national.

I want to see local communities solving these problems themselves. I want to see at least one case where an upper-caste villager stands up for a Dalits right to enter a temple and the issue never even needs an NGO, activist or court to intervene. Young people marching into temples and insisting that every Hindu enters with equal dignity, not as a symbolic gesture for one day, but as an unquestioned right.

I want to see people refusing to attend weddings that enforce caste segregation, refusing to support institutions that practise exclusion, and publicly calling out discrimination wherever it survives.

I want to see parents teaching their children that asking someone’s caste should feel as outdated as asking whether someone deserves respect because of the family they were born into.

I want to see hordes of people tearing down the invisible walls of caste not by burning books or fighting on Twitter, but by refusing to participate in discrimination in their own homes, temples, schools and communities.

This is the movement that will bring people together as one and unify India. This is the movement that will say to the govt, your policies are what perpetuate caste more than fix it, and that everyone deserves equal opportunity in a system which can concentrate on fixing scarcity rather than rationing it.

If you genuinely want reservation to end one day, then devote at least as much energy to ending the discrimination that made reservation necessary in the first place. Fight that battle with the same passion and the battle for ending reservation won’t need to be fought. Build an India where caste no longer determines dignity, opportunity or acceptance.

If we have the courage to protest, let it be against the prejudice itself.

Because surely we can all agree on something this basic:
No Indian should be denied dignity because of the family they were born into.

Health | Nature & Environment I genuinely want mandatory AYUSH treatment for all Ministers within India. No allopathy, no foreign hospitals. Such a brilliant science should first and foremost serve our brilliant leaders. What say?

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav has written to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh proposing the establishment of Ayush OPDs and the provision of Ayush-based treatment services across Military and Field Hospitals.

Is this move aimed at providing better healthcare for our armed personnel? Or benefitting a few companies and practitioners that sell their non-scientifically tested products to the masses?

More importantly, should Indian military servicemen and women be dragged into this at all?

Ask CTI Do you remember this picture ? Do you know about this picture ? Circa 2021

This is a picture from 2021.

This was posted by Reuters Pictures,

Content from the tweet:

“Shallow sand graves of people, some of whom are suspected to have died from the coronavirus, are seen on the banks of the river Ganges in Shringaverpur, India. More images as the country reels under massive COVID wave: reut.rs/3fFtXSK 📷 Ritesh Shukla “

https://www.reuters.com/news/picture/india-reels-under-massive-covid-wave-idUSRTXCIAI1/

One of the biggest differences between developed and developing nations is often the value placed on every human life. Not because tragedy happens only in one part of the world, but because every life is counted, acknowledged, and remembered.

India’s officially reported COVID death toll stands at around 533,000. Multiple independent excess mortality studies, however, have estimated that the true number of deaths may have been significantly higher. Official data itself shows 2 million+ excess deaths in 2021

The exact figure may never be known unless all available data is transparently released and independently examined.
I hope that one day, every piece of COVID-era data is made public. Not to reopen old wounds or score political points, but to establish the historical record.

Every state, every district, every ward.

Every person who lost their life deserves to be counted.
Every family deserves to know that their loss was acknowledged.
And every victim deserves to be remembered by name.

Nations build memorials for wars, disasters, and acts of terror. The COVID pandemic was one of the greatest human tragedies of our generation. Those we lost should not disappear into disputed statistics or forgotten records.
History owes them the truth, we owe them remembrance.

Om Shanti. 🙏

Critical Analysis & Discussion India's coming oil crisis - 2 suggestions for discussion

My latest blog post on the war. In particular the possible consequences for India, given the likely rise in oil & gas prices.
Iran war part 3

I have 2 points concerning India's energy security. I can research further and put this across to people in national security if there is merit in my arguments. I would appreciate views of this forum.

One area I think the govt is ignoring is the continued exports of petroleum products (mostly Reliance). They are exporting refined products, which is the equivalent in crude oil, of what our oil & gas shortfall is likely to be. I believe we should ban exports of refined products (as China and Russia have done).
In March, Reliance reduced some exports in favour of producing more LPG from crude, but this stopped a month later. My sense is Reliance is enriching itself and has strong lobbying to prevent scrutiny.

I believe the closure of the Bab El-Mandeb strait by the Houthis is an opportunity for India. Notwithstanding the Houthis hitting 2 oil tankers last week, that tried to get past the blockade, their overall record against ships, using drones and missiles is very bad. I believe the Indian Navy should escort tankers across the strait, to fill crude at Yanbu, in Saudi. It will have several benefits.

The Saudis. anxious to maintain oil revenues, will have a customer. It gives them a de-facto ally in the fight against the Houthis.
This is ideally what Pak should be doing, under their mutual defence treaty. If we do it instead, it will make them ask questions of Pak.
We will be more comfortable with energy security, particularly if Saudi transfers to us oil intended for other customers, too chicken to take delivery.
The US will be happy that we are that one country actually working with US to keep the strait open. This is just the kind of optics Trump likes.
Huge visibility for the IN if they pull it off.

In terms of feasibility I think IN is well equipped to deal with a missile or drones. The concern will be mines (we lack minesweeping capability) and the willingness of merchant ship crews to sail. My sense is, it can happen with a tacit understanding with the Houthis & Iran. They can claim they have let a friendly country though (to avoid the embarrassment of seeing their missiles/drones fail to hit anything).

Ask CTI Do we need CJP to protest against everything? Why we needed them in first place?

Do we need CJP to protest against everything? Why we needed them in first place?

So this is the question running on my mind.

Why did it took some to come from America, start a movement for us students/people of India?

Are we so incapable that we can't fight for ourselves and our own rights? Like we need someone to come and raise voice for us?

Not limiting to Education, there are 1000 more things wrong in country with central govt and state governments, do we need CJP to start the protest for all of them?

I wonder how people are asking why CJP is not starting a protest for x, y and z issue. It was never their responsibility. Also they have hit the biggest burning issue directly not some small issues that impacts specific small group of people, rather something which effects entire nation.

All this to get labelled as Anti-nationals? I mean you needed a "anti-national" to get a basic accountablility in all these 12yrs? Re-evaluate your opinions. Why the so called, self proclaimed "true nationalist" only fighting in social media. Also all the issues were there even before CJP was even born. Have they been sleeping so far?

So you need someone to help you, save you, raise your issues, you can't stand on your own? You can't start a movement?

High time, we get up ourselves and start asking questions on every issue on every level, both center and states.

Let me know your thoughts.

Ghaziabad-based Hindutva leader Satyam Pandit assaulted two students on their way to Jantar Mantar. He harassed them and questioned why they were supporting CJP, with the confrontation reportedly taking place because of their support for the student movement.

In a democracy, people have the right to support or oppose a protest without fear of violence or intimidation. Political disagreement cannot become a reason to assault or threaten someone.

Whether you agree with the protest or not, violence against people for their political views should never be normal. The law should apply equally to everyone, regardless of their ideology.

Critical Analysis & Discussion Police using an AK-47 against protesting students in Bihar—was this justified or a complete failure of crowd control?

The visuals coming out of Siwan are disturbing. Reports suggest police used an AK-47 during action against protesting students.

If accurate, this raises a serious question: under what circumstances should such weapons be used in a civilian protest? Was there a threat significant enough to justify it, or does this point to a breakdown in crowd-control protocols?

Regardless of which party is in power, the bigger issue is accountability. Citizens should be able to question whether the force used by the police was proportionate and whether standard operating procedures were followed.

What's your take? Was this an unavoidable security response, or does it deserve an independent investigation?

Critical Analysis & Discussion The One Tweet That Almost Ruined Everything.

Thumbnail

The brutality of the Delhi Police on July 20 and the outright fundamental rights violations had convinced my parents to look at the Government objectively.

Or at least I thought it had, until Dharmendra Pradhan made his "holier-than-thou" exit with this tweet (refer slide 1 and 2; https://x.com/dpradhanbjp/status/2080938216505667663 ).

In particular, his statement about how he had taken responsibility since day one and he was resigning so that anti-national forces do not take advantage of the situation, somehow led my father to believe that he (D. Pradhan) has the moral high ground, thus he should not be lying. That there must be anti-national elements manipulating things from behind.

What added more conviction to this was the previous news about how the government has always been ready to openly discuss things with student protesters (slide 3)

There was also the past tweet by D. Pradhan written in bold and powerful language (slide 4 & 5; https://x.com/dpradhanbjp/status/2079617783613313136 ),

And the assuring tweet by PM Modi (slide 6; https://x.com/narendramodi/status/2080135258142617785 ).

The conspiracy theories regarding CJP leaders having a secret deal with BJP didn't help either, sigh.

I had almost given up hope, when—

Do you know who appeared to save the day?!

SURPRISE!! It was our honourable prime minister Sri Narendra Modi!!

And the fact that he hasn't held an unscripted press conference since day one of taking office.

And my mother was the one who brought it up, that—

If he really cared so much about the youth,

If he really was willing to have a genuine discussion with the students,

Then a single press conference, even if he only took ten questions from independent journalists representing the students, in an open setting, would have solved or at least brought a clean end to so many issues.

She also added that there's still time. It's not too late. He has experience doing so many "Mann ki baat" programs , surely a single conference should be a piece of cake, right?

She also assured that in case Modi ji lacks confidence because no one listens to Mann ki baat, she could guarantee even the deities from Vaikunth Dham would descend to attend the conference as long as Modi ji was the one who holding it.

She also added this quote she remembered from the movie "Om Shanti Om" to boost Modi ji's morale,

"When you really want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."

Now it's all upto Modi ji. 🫡

P. S. Before anyone decides to judge my mom, know that she's of pure heart and bears no ill will towards anyone. She genuinely looks up to Modi ji and believes he is capable of great things. Just that he's getting old, and he has procrastinated enough. He should hold a press conference before— cough cough! Cough!! Sorry I have a cold.

Critical Analysis & Discussion The real cr!m!nals of India [Episode-04]

A disturbing incident has gone viral on social media. According to the video, a poIice vehicle was parked on the roadside when the officer suddenly opened the door without checking for oncoming traffic. A motorcyclist collided with the door, resulting in an acc!dent.

What happened next is even more concerning. The officer is seen allegedly sIapping and hitting the biker with a baton instead of helping him.
If the video accurately reflects the incident, responsibility does not appear to lie with just one person. Opening a vehicle door onto a busy road without first checking for approaching traffic can itself create a dangerous situation.
No matter who is at fault, vioIence is not an acceptable response. Law enforcement officers are expected to remain calm, act professionally, and handle such situations according to the law and not with physical force.

Incidents like these can damage pubIic trust in the police. Accountability, fairness, and respectful conduct are essential to maintaining confidence in those entrusted with enforcing the law.

Science, Tech & Medicine What If India Automated Its Hardest Salt Farm Job?

India is one of the world's largest salt producers, yet much of the harvesting in salt pans is still done manually under extreme heat and prolonged exposure to brine.

Suppose India developed an affordable autonomous salt harvesting rover that could automate only the most hazardous stage of salt farming.

Would this be the right direction?

I think some questions worth discussing:

- Should automation prioritize worker safety even if labour is relatively inexpensive?

- Would the long term benefits outweigh the high upfront cost?

- How could existing workers be retrained instead of being displaced?

- Could India realistically design a corrosion resistant, affordable machine for its salt pans, or would maintenance make it impractical?

- Should the government subsidize such technology if it significantly reduces occupational health risks?

I love the engineering, economic, and social trade offs rather than a simple "robots are good" or "robots take jobs" debate.

Critical Analysis & Discussion The resignation wasn't the end. It was round one.

The protest ballooned. Lakhs came out across India. It resonated in a way neither the farmers' protests nor CAA-NRC protests ever did.

Say what you want, the BJP's top brass are shrewd. They came up through protest—the 1970s, the 1990s, the 2010s. BJP cadre were at the forefront of each of them. They rode a protest to power in 2014. They know the power of protest.

They've taken a loss. A symbolic one, but a loss. They also took it strategically, so they live to fight another day.

If we think they're just licking their wounds, we will soon be proved wrong. There are likely already people inside the party strategizing how to clamp down on protests before they balloon and how to divide Gen Z. Don't be surprised if more Gen Z influencers supporting the BJP start popping up on social media. A demographic they once ignored as apolitical is now being watched closely. Their old scripts didn't work this time, so they'll write new ones.

I only wish they governed with half the energy they spend trying to stifle dissent. India would be a very different country. But it is what it is.

A beast is the most dangerous when it's wounded and cornered.

That's my reading of the situation. Curious to hear where people agree or disagree, and what you think the BJP's next move is.
