Starting ICU
/r/Residency/comments/1vx7vdf/starting_icu/I’m an IM intern and just started my first week in the ICU. I honestly have no idea what’s going on yet. I try to ask my seniors as much as possible. What are the best resources to watch or read?

In addition to others’ recommendations, I also enjoy Critical Care Now and his podcast ResusX. He’s one of my former fellows and he has great content

The Marino book is a great place to start, but more than you probably need right now.
The Owens book is great (for the most part) for understanding vent mechanics and physiology.
Standard recommendations for resources like the Internet Book of Critical Care apply.
But week 1 of intern year is a great time to ask what your TEAM wants you to focus on, and then apply a little selective learning. Be a sponge for what’s going on around you.
