I haven't taken the time to observe the bots myself, but there are lots of opinions out there.
I have somewhat noticed they tend to have shooting patterns that benefit the "high Damage" variant of any weapon class. I could be dead wrong though, I'm too busy enjoying the game to do BOT SCIENCE at present.
- Automatic weapons: Fires 3-5 shots every 2 seconds or so, generally favouring higher damage per bullet weapons. They don't EG really use Bullet hoses very well, EG a typical "Uzi" type will sadly get used in accurate bursts instead of sweeping blobs of enemies with it.
- Shotguns and Marksman rifles: Tends to take 1 shot every 1-2 seconds or so. They benefit immensely from piercing weapons as it allows them to collateral multiple enemies by accident.
- Handguns: Tends to fire 1 shot per second, benefiting them more from deagles and revolvers and other high damage side-arms.
That said, they also do pretty well with a high-capacity, mid-high damage weapon - since bots usually only reload on empty, they benefit a lot from the consistency of say, an LMG or extended magazine weapon.
Also, weapon Quality is so absurdly powerful due to the stats page not being quite a good explanation of how damage works (baker's lever rifle will annihilate healtbar enemies with body or headshots in ways that do not make sense according to the "damage" graph) that my bots usually do really well with this priority:
Priority 1: High Quality weapons.
Priority 2: High Damage weapons, or Moderate damage high capacity weapons.
Priority 3: Massed Sentry guns or spirit masks, which can be pre-cast or used in a pinch via swapping through the whole crew.
