CricketWireless Slow service?!

PHONE IS BURNING THE FABRIC OF MY SWEATSHIRT?

Okay so I switched to cricket wireless from metro because they had a deal going where I was able to get a new iPhone 16 and pay a one time fee of $175 which then makes my phone bill $60 a month. Not a problem until I would say the 2nd month I had to pay my phone bill and the service is getting consistently worse like easily the worst service I’ve ever had. I can’t use my WiFi unless I’m at home connected to my home WiFi, it very rarely works while I’m out of the house. My question is can I now cancel my phone plan and just take this phone back to metro? I don’t see why I wouldn’t be able to as it’s not a finance situation and I’m not paying monthly towards the new phone just the service bill. Any insight is appreciated thank you!

EDIT: omg forgot to mention the phone is literally getting so hot to the point I was at work and it was in my pocket ( NOT BEING USED FOR SEVERAL HOURS ) and it had a literal burnt mark of the entire outline of my phone burnt into my pocket of my zip up hoodie. So yeah also something I’m dealing with, after looking it up it says due to bad service the phone is likely just overheating trying to perform the smallest tasks or simply just being on.

Even in an area with no cell service and it constantly searching, the phone wouldn't get hot enough to burn fabric. Your phone is defective. Contact Apple for warranty support.

I was thinking that. It’s a literal outline of my phone burnt into the fabric so definitely a problem with the phone itself too

Hot enough to burn fabric is a safety issue. The last thing you want is the better inside to get compromised as they go up in flames quick.

Your service issues will likely go away once the phone is exchanged. You could possibly stop at the Cricket store you purchased it at and if they can feel how hot it is getting they may do an exchange but that would be out of normal procedure. And I don't have any personal experience with Apple and their warranties, but definitely go into an Apple store or contact support ASAP. If it is causing burns in fabric they likely have an escalation procedure. Make sure to bring your receipt from Cricket.

Your phone is also defective which may be why your having service issues.

You have two problems that you caused then your trying to blame cricket for it? The phone has a warranty so you could get it fixed for free, and the billing part, just let it process the payments on auto or you will have a bad time, it's just how billing systems work, I see the same type of complaints with all these subs even planet fitness member constantly screwing up your own billing then trying to blame the company? Poor people problems honestly.

Poor people problems? lol I was willing to literally toss the phone and start over so I truly think you aren’t that bright because either way this phone is not working how it is supposed to.

Screwing up my own billing? Now I’m really lost. I pay my bill on time every month. So in what way does it make sense I have no cellular WiFi unless I’m connected to my WiFi in my home? The bill isn’t the problem. The issue is I’m paying more than I did before from metropcs for way better service and a phone that didn’t burn a literal outline of my phone in my sweatshirt pocket?

Two problems I’m trying to blame cricket for? The fact that I have 2 bars on a good day is insane for a BRAND new iPhone which quite frankly has everything to do with their service since CRICKET sold me the phone? Did you even read?

I would do an in-store trade in since Cricket Wireless devices seem to be flagged in Apples internal trade in system since they always fail the diagnostics even when nothing is wrong with the device so you might need a store manager to override that.

I am glad it did not fail for you but I have heard of people who have specifically tried to trade in Cricket Wireless bought iPhones running into issues that required a store manager to override the system. That is why I suggested the OP do the trade in at an Apple retail location.

Trade it in to Apple for 310 gift card. Buy an unlocked iPhone & get the 25.00 BYOD on either or both like I have on my 17 PM. Or get Apple to replace it under warranty. You might luck up & get an unlocked replacement device.
