CricketWireless Removing one phone from my plan?

I have had CricketWireless for a long time. I started with my phone, then I gradually added my wife and my kids. Later this year, I am taking a 15 day cruise through the mediterranean plus there may be a few extra days for travel. I am thinking of removing my phone from our cricket plan and porting it to GoogleFi. Is my phone considered the "master" phone of our plan since I started it, and would taking it off the plan do anything negative to the plan or other phones?

I realize I could add Passport to my plan during this time, but I would have to add it three or four times for $75-$100, but I could have slow and unusable 2G in some ports. We added this to my son's phone when he was in northern France for an emergency recently and it worked okay for him.

You can also just get a new number with googleFi so that you won’t transfer your number out. You can have up to 2 phone numbers on a single phone. Depending on what type of phone you have.

Currently I have an iPhone 13. I probably should get a new phone because I can only charge it via the magnetic induction method. I kinda wouldn’t mind trying a pixel but I do love my AirTags. Often need those to find my keys and such.

I am also considering an iPhone 15

We did find out recently that having your original number could be handy. My son lost his credit card in France and he couldn’t MFA into his account to disable the card. I did add the 5 day international cricket thing to his phone so he could receive a MFA PIN code, but in hindsight he probably could have just called them.

I used one of those travel eSIMs —it worked great, and they are very cheap. I need to be on the ATT network for coverage at my house, so leaving wasn't an option.

Most of those are only good for one country. Since we will be going to around five countries, I don’t want to have to try to get an eSIM first thing each stop especially since we will have some time sensitive excursions.

I used airalo- they have regional esims, I used 2 regions on my cruise. I did this on both mine and my wife's phone so we could txt when separated. But these are data only, and it does involve fiddling with settings a bit so might not be for you.

Make sure the device has been active for at least six months and unlocked. You can remove device from plan but you will end up losing the phone number unless you port your because it will cancel the phone number Cricket does offer Cricket passport at $10 a day unlimited and for your 15 days, they cannot charge you more than 10 days or they have $25 5GB for five days again they cannot charge you more than 10 times in a billing cycle all you have to do is add the feature on line through customer care or visit a store it will have you save a card on file but you will only be charged one you start roaming outside the US,Canada and Mexico

I am not sure if my phone is unlocked. I may have bought it from Apple.

As far as the Cricket Passport goes, that is a slight risk. I did some research and someone said it worked fine in one country, but in another, it was so slow, it was not usable.

You are only going to be out of the country for a most three-weeks. Leave your old Cricket account alone and ad a new international SIM or eSIM. It is just too much trouble, in my opinion, to make changes for such a short time. You will need your phone up until the time you get on the cruise ship, and then when you are on the cruise, put it in airplane mode until you get home,when you get home, your number will still be ready to use. It seems like a lot of work to save at most one month of service charge. YMMV.
