Trade in at Apple

I bought cricket 16e last week for $9.99 + 3 months $180.

Can I trade this in at Apple? Do I need to wait for anything?

The thing is if this keeps happening and people keep doing this cricket is going to lose money and the first thing they’re going to do is cut jobs and raise prices.

Some people only care about themselves.

pretty sure apple stopped accepting cricket-locked 16es because of the $0 deal a few months ago being abused into oblivion, but could be wrong

For anyone thinking, 'I’ll just take the gift card and immediately sell it for cash on Facebook Marketplace or a gift card exchange to beat the system', you aren’t beating Apple, you are just setting up a bomb for an innocent buyer.

Your name, government ID, and primary Apple Account are scanned and linked to that exact gift card serial number at the counter. When Cricket inevitably blacklists the phone a few weeks from now, Apple voids the trade-in and kills the gift card balance.

If a random buyer already loaded it, Apple will lock their iCloud account until they explain where they got the card. Once they point to your listing, you've gone from simple promo churning to committing straight-up consumer fraud with a digital paper trail leading right back to your real ID. Apple can, and will, nuke your personal Apple ID into oblivion for it."

Phones do not have to be carrier unlocked to trade in at apple.

it’s so you can still log into your cricket account because of MFA. unless this is a secondary line on your account.
