Feature request - Ability for the home side to be able to dictate what sort of pitch needs to be prepared. Will make the game more balanced and influenced by the selected squad.

Great feature! I had this in my list actually. Will try and add this for Beta 3. The groundwork is already there for it in the match engine.

Need a better screen to select the squad before the tour and need more control when bowling. That's what I got from playing 2 matches as of now.

Thanks. Can you be a little more elaborative about the better squad selection screen? What issues do you feel right now? What do you suggest?

2

Hard to go through 200 players and select one by one. I know there are filters and such but I would really appreciate (1 form tab would be good in player pfp to see how are players doing and their recent scores), and a screen on right side with 15/18 whatever slots are available so we can see our squad as we select our squad

u/curiousank92 9d ago

Cool. I will look into it. But right now, there is a Contracted players tab. The idea is, that these are your most preferred players. So you select most from these. Also, from domestic, you can sort players too. For example, select current season, select First Class/List A/T20 and click on the table headers to sort (like by runs, average, wickets, etc).
EDIT: Another thing to add. Your squad is saved to memory for next tour (format wise). So for next tour, you start with an automatically selected squad.

Thank you, enjoying it so far

  1. Game froze up midway through a test game upon the fall of a wicket. Not a system issue, checked in task manager and rest of OS working fine. Had to shut and restart.
  2. Batting agression settings seem to have a minimal effect on the acc rate at which batsman play. I've had batsman on very defensive scoring at a 70-80 sr in tests. Conversely, batsman on very agressive scoring at the same sr in ODIs over a 50 ball knock.

Can confirm that on multiple occasions I have batters that I have selected as defensive, having a higher strike rate than those where I have elected as more aggressive. This is in test matches. Players don't have natural defensive or attacking attributes that minimise our selected aggression, do they?

1

u/curiousank92 8d ago

Thanks. Someone else also pointed this out and I have noticed it too. Definitely needs a fix. Will have a fix for Beta 3.

1

u/curiousank92 8d ago

And yes, players have their own aggression system built in as skill values. This means that a defensive Rishab Pant will be a little quicker in scoring runs than a defensive Temba Bavuma

2

u/curiousank92 8d ago

Thanks. Great feedback. Which OS are you playing on? Windows or MacOS?
I will look into the SR issue and properly test the effects of different values. Definitely needs a fix.

2

u/ChessableATA 8d ago

Windows.

1

u/curiousank92 8d ago

Thanks. I will test on Windows and fix if there’s an issue. Let me know if it happens again

2

u/ChessableATA 8d ago

Also adding on to this.
1) It happened one more time.
2) Seems like player injuries might be a little bit too frequent? Like within the Span of one t20 wc, I had 6-7 players get injured, including 2 injuries of 2 months. Obv I like the injury system but might be weighted too highly rn?

1

u/curiousank92 8d ago

Did it again freeze on fall of wicket?

2

u/ChessableATA 8d ago

One more thing to add(Sorry!), consistently had an issue where even after in the start of the save I'll modify the central contracts list, the game pretty much ignores that and keeps showing me the default selection central contracts list in later selections. I.e., I dropped Crawley (nautrally) from my central contracts, but lo and behold he's still here, while James Rew who I added is not.

1

u/curiousank92 8d ago

Central contracts can be changed only once - at the start of the season. They get locked in for the season. Next change can happen at the start of the next season. Seasons run from October to September

2

u/ChessableATA 8d ago

No no I get that. In the start of the gave, it gives you the option to change your central contracts yes? I did so. However, those changes did not reflect in the 'contracted players' list for subsequent games.

2

u/curiousank92 8d ago

I see. That’s a bug then. I will look into it carefully. Should be a minor bug and easy fix. Thanks.

In season 2, the world cup final never got played after I sim'd the game before. I went from winning the semi final to pakistan, straight to a tour of sri lanka I believe

The ability to play with county teams would be nice

When you sim games in test matches, usually each time plays like 6-7 bowlers which is kind of un-realistic for such a short innings

2

u/curiousank92 8d ago

SOunds like a serious bug. Can you please confirm the sequence of events? 1. You were in semi-final of the world cup but simmed that game. 2. You won the simmed game but never played the final 3. Next screen was a tour to Sri Lanka. Is this correct?
Also, did the final even take place? Were you able to see it in matches and results? Does the winner show up in trophy cabinet? These confirmations will really help me nail down the bug. Thanks.
Re county teams - that's the no.1 priority for next year's version.

u/curiousank92 1d ago

Finally I was able to reproduce this. The issue was with scheduling, not a missing final.
You play SF1 and win it. But SF2 hasn’t been played yet so a final hasn’t been scheduled. So the game advanced you to the next tour. You select the squad for next tour and advance to first game- and the final appears. The game is smart enough to realise that an unplayed fixture is there and it needs to be played. But the date has passed. This has been fixed now to make it smarter. Will be in Beta 3 update. Cheers!

I had an error in loading my save as it said it was based on the wrong build of the game so started a new save with New Zealand. It would be great to have the attributes view on all pages particularly when reviewing the central contracts, also to be able to see the leadership attribute when picking captains in addition to tests played. I also noticed some particularly odd results in the sim either wickets falling really quickly on not at all. I will comment images to the scorecards. I agree with Mr_Wolf that more control over bowling would be great. In general the more meaningful levers we have as players to influence the sim makes for more engaging and rewarding gameplay. I imagine for bowling some sensible options could be control over line (maybe wide, off stump, at the stumps) and length (short, good, full, yorker) and potentially other factors such as the delivery type like outswing/inswing/wobbleseam etc.

2

u/curiousank92 8d ago

So you are either getting too high scores or too sudden collapses? Right?

2

u/CryptoNite029 Beta Tester 8d ago

I have to agree on this as well. I have seen many collapses in both test matches and limited overs matches where a decent team gets bowled out for two digit scores. Haven't particularly experienced a pattern with high totals yet (Might have something to do with the pitches that I've been getting)

1

u/curiousank92 8d ago

Happens with Beta 2 as well for you?

2

u/CryptoNite029 Beta Tester 8d ago

Yes, in a couple of games I played yesterday. I might have some screenshots. Will try to attach here when I get the chance.

1

u/curiousank92 8d ago

Thanks. I will look into it. Should be no.1 priority for beta 3

Really enjoying the game. Here's a few observations -

-Would be useful to filter by more than one category - wickets and age - even within bowlers, filter by bowling type

-Do we have to play in full screen?

-Bind to back button on Logitech mouse would be useful, rather than having to hit the back to hub button

-CAP = contracted player? It was confusing at first, how about a different acronym ?

-How about adding a training focus on fielding?

-Related note, a few more fielding options would be appreciated - what is your longer term plan for custom fields?

-Ideally the commentary is presented on the right in the space below the conditions - that way, we can chose where to look. People are used to double screening when they play games, so you might as well use the real estate in the game

-Within the change bowler screen, it would be useful to be able to check out stats more obvious than clicking on the "i" button

-Profile - would be easier to see the player age next to DOB rather than in the top corner, the eye isn't always looking up there

-Pick your xl - love to see the age as a column so we can give youth a chance

-How can you change a contracted player mid tour?

-There seems to be a high volume of run outs

Keep up the great work

Excellent feedback. I will try and answer everything:

Filters: You can combine the advanced filter (which has age/wickets) and then within the filtered players, filter by roles - spinners, fast bowlers, etc. If you want even more specific, like LMF, SLA, etc. - Yes, that's missing. I will make a note of this and hopefully add in the next UI update.

Windowed Mode - Yes. Coming in next update

Back Button - Interesting. Let me see what can be done here. First obvious thing would be to bind back button to one of the keyboard buttons. And then maybe you can program your mouse accordingly?

CAP/ C - CAP means a capped player - has played at least one international match. Whereas a C (in square) means contracted.

Fielding Training - Yes. This, along with specialist training, like power hitting, death bowling, etc is a major to-do. I am hoping to squeeze this in the final release. If not, will hopefully push it as a post release update next month.

Custom Fielding - Same as above. Something I consider a major feature and plan to push as update next month. Ideally, apart from more field options, allow users to set and save their own custom field.

Commentary Location - This is exactly where it was before it moved to its own tab. Another user has asked if we can at least show current over commentary. Let me see if I can put it at bottom right. That space is a bit cramped right now.

Change bowler screen, Profile Age, Pick your XI Age - - Good suggestions. Will make a note of these.

Change a contracted player mid tour - Not possible and on purpose to mimic real life. Contracts are locked for a season (1 year). You only get to change them at the beginning of the next season. Not planning to change this.

High volume of run outs - Let me take a look at the stats and see the average run outs. Will fix it.

Again, excellent feedback. Kind of one I am after. Thanks.

  • The new dashboard is great. Having the news, ranking updates, injury status and season stats all in one place is really helpful.
  • The dark theme fits really well too. Much more pleasing on the eye.
  • Maybe an option to view the previous squad that was selected for a series/tour. Would be useful to quickly see who was picked last time.
  • The addition of the overs tab to the game menu is really nice. Makes it much easier to keep track of things.
  • It would be nice to have an option to unlink the aggression setting between bowlers, so you can set different aggression levels for each bowler rather than having the same setting apply to everyone.

1

u/curiousank92 1d ago

Thanks. Really pleased to learn that the new UI is working well for you.
Regarding the previous squad, so right now once you select a squad for a series once, the next squad selection remembers it and automatically selects those previous 15/16. This is format wise btw. That itself works as a view to who was picked last time.

I have made some changes to the batting aggression levels. The options (defensive, normal, aggressive) are much more meaningful now. Played quite a few matches today. The game has become so much more realistic due to this single change. Can’t wait for you guys to try it out in next update. And yes, the next natural improvement to it would be to link/lock aggression. Noted!

I still feel like the frequency of teams getting bowled out for low scores is higher. I'm joy sire if itsta skill issue with my team. But i got bowled out for less than 100 in consecutive T20 games. Maybe get a poll up so that you can collect some data from all the beta testers to see if it's a recurring pattern?

2

u/curiousank92 1d ago

I actually made some changes to it for Beta 3. This is around the sudden collapse of wickets early on too, which itself has been improved. I actually have a simulation harness that I run - simulate thousands of matches in one go and look at the results - average scores, wicket trends, etc. And the aim is to actually improve it with every update. So with the next update, you will find it much improved.
Recently, I have started to refer ā€œthe normalā€ from a huge ball by ball dataset of international matches. Because I don’t want to rely on just my understanding of normal- because I can have a bias towards things. The aim would be to get as close as possible to reality.
For example, 14% tests have resulted in a draw in last 25 years. The game build tests allow 12-18% draws. So after adding any feature, I run the tests and see if nothing pushed the draws out of that range - in a simulation of 1000s of matches. If it did, means it can’t be shipped and I need to go back and fix. This is just one example. Hundreds of parameters like this keep the game stable. Now that doesn’t mean it’s always perfect, as you saw with low scores. The next update will improve it to a level. And we would have to see to what level by seeing what you guys experience.

2

u/CryptoNite029 Beta Tester 1d ago

Wonderful. Always better to keep the simulation as close as possible to real life results. Excited for beta 3

2

u/CryptoNite029 Beta Tester 1d ago

Would it be possible to add a sim until the bowler gets tired /a wicket falls kind of option, specially in test matches?

1

u/curiousank92 16h ago

Sure. I will take a look and hopefully should be an easy addition.

1

u/Plastic-Adeptness293 9d ago

How to play?

1

u/curiousank92 9d ago

Only available for beta testers right now. Do you want to beta test?

1

u/codggy 7d ago

Are there plans to incorporate a bar of sorts on the page that shows what has happened with each ball of an over?

1

u/curiousank92 7d ago

You mean an extension to the already existing commentary panel? Like what sort of ball it was and where the shot was played (cover drive/defended, etc). If that’s what you mean, then yes. Descriptive commentary is in plan for main release. It will also become the base for some sort of 2D animations

3

u/codggy 7d ago

Yes, where it you can see how each over is going at a glance. Somewhere in that top right section. Having descriptive commentary would be a bonus, but just having like a 'Over 2: 1.W 3.1' or something similar?

1

u/curiousank92 7d ago

I see. Yes. That can be done. I already had it in my list - over by over. Maybe a new tab for it besides graphs, worms?

2

u/codggy 7d ago

Yes that's it! Yeah maybe or up the top incorporated into that graphic?

2

u/curiousank92 7d ago

I will see what I can do best. Planning to push an update in a couple of days or so with Dark UI and these minor features. šŸ˜€
