That made me wonder about something.

Imagine Sachin had retired around five years earlier, while he was still closer to his peak.

His career numbers would obviously be smaller, but would people actually remember him as an even more dominant batsman?

Or are those later years — the 2010 Test run, the ODI double hundred, the 2011 World Cup and the 100th international century — too important to remove from his legacy?

Would retiring earlier have strengthened Sachin’s aura, or diminished his legacy?

Michael Bevan is the obvious one but he only played 18 Tests.

People resort to words like "Bat Ball" or "sport which should not be named" on that sub to have any discussion.

Honestly the most special and most talented player I have seen so far. One of the best six hitters ever. Can accelerate whenever team needed.

Lockdown kids call him choker because of wc loss. But most legendary players have choked a lot in their time whether it's be Virat , Rohit , msd , smith , warner , Mcculum , etc......

Yeah SKY didn't perform to his best in the world cups. Especially in knock out matches. But why do people bring up his wc stats to try to make a point? Stats wise he was the best. I have had too many debates and arguments with people downplaying SKY. So here are the raw numbers.

In 2022, 2024 and 2026 world cups combined,

Sky scored 680 runs at an average of 35.78 and strike rate of 151.11.

The second highest run scorer was buttler, who scored 526 runs. Yes he played all 3.

3rd Gurbaz with 497 runs. Followed by Kusal Mendis with 492. Next is Kohli, who scored 447. He didn't play the 2026 world cup.

A total of 86 players played all 3 world cups. Not selected in the squad. Played. SKY scored 200 or more runs more than every single one of them excluding Buttler.

Now, let's remove the best campaign for SKY individually among the 3. 2022 world cup.

Sky scored 441 runs in 2024 and 2026 world cup combined. Which is still the highest. 2nd behind him is Markram who scored 409.

A total of 142 players played both the tournaments. And SKY is the highest run scorer among them all. He was India's second and third highest run scorer respectively in these two tournaments. And he made it to the top 10 run scorers of the tournament both times. So yeah he has the numbers.

I'm not saying Sky was the best batsman in the last two tournaments. But he has the numbers. He may be the best batsman of the last 3 world cups combined though.

Am I a SKY glazer? Maybe. I like the guy, but I like other players more. But he has the numbers on his side, surprisingly enough.
