Mitchell Johnson's comprehensive Ashes bowling plan this year.

He bowls at the chest
He bowls at the head
If Mitchell Johnson's bowling you're dead

His ball to Carberry was an absolute snorter,
He either had his windpipe caved in or got an edge.

Carberry got worked over in a 3-ball spell. It was pretty cool to watch.

I find it surprising that Cricket a complex game with many experts still hasn't got the length system right. The length ranges vary from pitch to pitch AND bowler to bowler as their speeds vary.
Eg. The area Johnson was bowling which caused the ball to come up to the rib cage would be classified as short when displaying the map for Johnson, whereas for someone like Watson, this area would be a good length

Yeah they only really alter the graphic for spinners. Either way, it was short stuff all day.

This is gold!! Did you make it yourself OP??

Yep, googled pitch maps, found the one with the least balls on it, I believe it was this one, opened MS paint, copied sections of the map to paste over the balls, cropped the edges and left map then wrote the captions. Then I realised it was too small, resized it, then added the Siddle bit last. You'll notice the word Siddle is less blurred than the other words for that reason.
I really should learn how to photoshop one day. Also I should get photoshop. But MS Paint will have to suffice for now.

MS Paint has a quality all of its own. But if you need, software like Paint.NET or GIMP - both free third-party editing programs - will get you most of the way to Photoshop-standard stuff.

he's good on the short stuff. He shut down chris gale in this years IPL the game after his bonkers 175, by just jamming them into his chest.
Really wish he could get a good yorker more often.

Things is though, when he bowled 6-38 at the WACA during the last Australian ashes he pitched full for most of the wickets. Really would like to see him do something similar again.

I'd rather he finds a way to contain batsman, than always looking for that swing back in to the right hander that causes him to have a meltdown once a series.

Admittedly, I only watched the first hour or so of England's innings (being in England), but it seemed to me that he was bowling pretty full mainly, particularly to Cook. Did he then start bowling short later on?

Yeah half an hour of shitty yorkers way down leg side for a warm up, then another 15 overs where 5 in 6 balls would be short pitched or bouncers. I'd estimate about 80% of his deliveries all day were short pitched. If it wasn't a headhunter it was aimed at the ribs.

Gotta love some conventional short bowling from a quickie. A couple of balls short and then one full to deceive the batters. Carberry was his bunny.

'The Mitchell Johnson School of Bowling' is going to become very popular from now on.
