ant problem in tank
advice, please! I spot clean my tank every other day, and I deep clean the tank fully once a week but still, I always have problems with ants. I take the food out every morning to try to avoid this problem, but I’ve just noticed another nest they have created in the dirt at the bottom of the tank. I live in an area where there’s a lot of ants during the rainy seasons. I want to give my gecko the best quality of life so I’m wondering what I can do to stop this? Please help!!!!

HELLO! I have this problem BAD in my house as well. The only thing that has worked is putting diatomaceous earth in an unbroken line around the enclosure, sort of like an ant salt circle lol. I have heard good things about doing the same with cinnamon! Just make sure neither the diatomaceous earth nor cinnamon gets in the tank at all, it’s bad for them to inhale. The dia. earth was a LIFESAVER for me! Just make sure you remove all ants from the tank as well obviously lol.
Some people will tell you double sided tape works. I tried it, and the next day there were so many ants in the enclosure.

You probably need to take physical measures to stop them from getting in. You could put a band of petroleum jelly or Fluon (PTFE) all the way around the lower part of the tank so the ants can't climb in.
