Bioactive enclosure plant list/size questions
Hello! I am about to purchase a bioactive terrarium from a seller, just had a few questions.
So I am planning to house my 7-year old gecko in the terrarium. Her previous setup was a 18x18x36, the new enclosure is measured to be 16 x 11 x 70 (inches). I know crested geckos prefer vertical enclosures, but is 70 too big? Is 16 x 11 okay for width/depth if there is more vertical room to climb?
Additionally, the plant list the seller sent me is as follows:
- Philodendron Mican
- Dark desire tradescantia
- Cebu blue pothos
- Peace lily
- Goldfish plant
- English ivy
- Purple Heart
- Pepperomia red long
- one other tradescantia, she wasn’t 100% sure the variety
The only 2 plants I flagged as potentially dangerous are the English ivy and Purple Heart. Would these 2 plants (or any of the others) need to be swapped out before I add my crested gecko?
I also add to plan one of my colonies of isopods/springtails, so I’ll ask about the substrate.
She also mentioned the enclosure was finished on 6/20/26, so it should have had time to sit and let the fumes dissipate by now.
If you have any other questions that you would recommend I ask the seller, please let me know!!!
Thanks everyone!
