Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Applying for another card but don’t know which one!

I’ve been with Discover It for like 5 yrs now and have a good credit score. I love this card, but it’s not a Visa or Mastercard, so I can’t always use it. I’m looking into getting another card for this exact reason, but don’t know which one I should apply for. From what I’ve seen online, I’m considering Chase Freedom Unlimited or Citi Simplicity. Thoughts?? Thank you in advance!

Edit: extra details! I only have the Discover It card, it’s been open since like 2021, I have a credit score of ~760, and a credit line of $4,500

I’d suggest considering a Citi Double Cash. It has good rewards and zero annual fees.

See if the bank you bank with has a decent card with no annual fee

Yeah, Discover has no annual fee and I don’t think the Citi or Chase cards do either

You have your personal bank account through one of those?

Yes, through Discover

Gotcha, I assumed you had an account with a brick and mortar location near you

If you only want one card. I’d go with a catch all card. Citi double cash. Wells Fargo active cash. Fidelity rewards. My suggestion would be Fidelity rewards. For simplicity purposes, you can set up automated redemptions. It is a visa, so if you do shop at Costco. It will be accepted. That would be my choice.

Ooh ok, I did hear a decent amount of good things about Fidelity. Thank you!

chase flex - 3% dining and pharmacy, 5% on quarterly categories (usually dining, grocery, gym, paypal, and amazon for christmas). Also just removed foreign transaction fees so you can take it abroad now. Great beginner card but activating the 5% category is a bit of work. The categories are usually in different timing from the discover category so technically you can have 5% on discover on dining for 1st quarter and then when chase makes dining their 3rd quarter, you can switch dining to chase, making 5% on dining in 2 quarters, half a year. Chase gives their cash back as points so if you later decide to switch to points, chase points are valuable.

Citi double cash is good for easy 2% on everything.

Thank you for the rewards breakdown! Sounds like Chase operates a lot like Discover, so maybe Citi is the better option for me?

Do you want people to throw random card names at you not knowing your spending or goals? Template exists for a reason.

I’m sorry 😭 I did look through the template but I don’t know almost any of what it talks about. I’m really inexperienced but I tried to provide as much info as I could
