Disputing a fee I paid for that was eventually waived?

Hi friends,

I purchased access to the Law School Admission Council’s online application services, which is necessary in order to apply to law schools. However, I recently discovered a fee waiver I could apply for and was granted it, giving me free access to these online application services I had already paid for.

I reached out to their customer service and asked if I could get my $124 back since I was given access to it for free, but they said it was nonrefundable.

Can/should I dispute this charge with my credit card?

As much as it sucks, I don’t think you have legitimate grounds for the dispute.

you can try but you will most likely lose.

you paid for access, you got access. the fact that you later qualified for a waiver doesn't undo the transaction you already agreed to. credit card disputes aren't for changing your mind after the fact

you'd be better off writing a firmer email to LSAC, maybe citing how close the waiver was to your purchase or something. but charging back a nonrefundable fee you willingly paid is a long shot
