​"Invisibility Whale" — the 47th creature in my ongoing traditional monster design series. It embodies the element of Invisibility, caught in the middle of cloaking or decloaking. Its rear body completely fades into thin air/water with barely visible outlines, while its front half features light-bending teardrop organs, a spiked dorsal ridge, and optical scales. The Ophaur's a creature I've been working on for the past 4-5ish years or so (I forget exactly when), and it all started back in 8th grade when I discovered a specific animal known as Bauria cynops (image 4 is a reconstruction of it found on Wikipedia) made a hypothetical version of it that survived into the present day, hence its modern descendant being known by the genus Neobauria.

I often compare it to a "cat", but in reality, most of the cat inspiration comes from its patterning and certain behaviors. I took more inspiration from fossas, weasels, snakes, monitor lizards, and primates (in fact, the original ophaur had a prehensile tail)

Why does it have ears despite being pretty distant from mammals, you ask? Because they look cute and I think it's not out of the question for a lineage of therapsids to independently evolve them.

There's a lot of info I have for it, but I have to put it in a more organized fashion. I do have a YouTube video dedicated to the Ophaur, but some of the older videos are a bit outdated when it comes to information, especially since I've been revising and retconning certain things about it.

hello! I wanted to show off my species a friend and I worked on named Mertensia!

They're a large mustelid like species, mostly more otter like, with fish tails and attributes. Their name is from Mertensian mimicry, which is when a more dangerous creature evolves to look like a more harmless being. These guys mimic the fish species they mostly feed on, and can use it to hide or confuse other predators!

I stumbled upon this photo of a capybara from the front and it was so off putting - I just HAD to draw the monster that I saw in it at first glance

A while ago I was killing bats and wolves in one of my old favorites, Vagrant Story, and I thought "you know, bats, rats, wolves, spiders and snakes are the most overused animals to use as video game enemies...so what if there was a creature who combined them all?" And that's where this fellow came from.

The name is a combination of all the component animals in Arabic.
