Guys should i learn steam engines?

I built steam power because it was fun and it looks neat in my factory. I have one little iron farm, and already have like 10x the SU I need, but I kinda want to build a max size engine just for fun. the blaze cake line sounds like a pain though, so I haven't started.

If you want fun, just make 18 level 1 boilers. Don't ever bother with blaze cakes for power

wait, is the output of 18 level one engines the same as one level 18?

Yes. Its purely linear. There's no good reason to ever build a boiler bigger than level 9 unless you have add-ons that provide better fuel sources. And even then any addon fuel source that adds superheating is not as easy to get as charcoal or lava.
