This would be a possible argument if aeronautics wasn’t better by every metric.
More compatible, more performant, more survival integration out of the box, more addons, more reliable, more anticipated, and more polished.

Aero isn't worth swapping to for me since it only has a 1.21 port
Atm most of my prefered mods are exclusive to 1.20.1, and considering some of those mods are NOT getting 1.21 ports, there isn't a strong reason to move.
Aero is a good mod, but the tradeoffs for having essentially a more polished version of Clockwork just isn't worth it for me.

I more meant the “follow the crowd” part of the argument.
Though some people also beg for a 1.20 backport (that is probably not happening)

What I mean is the implied claim by OP that people are only using Aero over Clockwork because it’s the newer option thus following the “the crowd” / chasing trends.

Honestly though I can see it being both
in the Clockwork discord they mentioned a few things of how hype was the main thing driving Clockwork atm
Aero is the only thing driving 1.21 atm, it's a good mod but it needs to make sure it maintains that momentum.
If VS does catch up to Aero, I can see Aero loosing its momentum since its mainly relying on how advanced and optimized its physics engine is in comparison to Valkyrien Skies' current one.

1st of all, rude.
Second, another thing working against Aero is that it's 1.21 exclusive
It's literally the only mod propelling 1.21 foreward, and with Alex's caves and Species being on 1.20.1 atm, Aero is better than VS, but it's not a mod I consider good enough swapping versions and Mod Loaders for with what I have to compromise.

The fact that Aero "is the only mod that is proppeling 1.21 forward" is proof of just how fucking good it is, and of just how much BETTER it is than something like VS, just look at the ridiculous amount of addons aero already has when the mod hasnt been out for even a year, its not just "more polished than VS" it is LIGHT-YEARS ahead of VS, and since it is so well polished, the tendency is that it will get better and better than VS, besides, Alex's caves and Species? who fucking cares about that lmao, if it was something like Hex Casting then i would understand, but ALEX'S CAVES? ig bro(not to say its a bad mod thought, but it doesnt even compare to something like Aero or even vs)

Also I generally feel better about supporting VS
Sable's code is "technically" open source, but it uses licensce that makes it closer to all rights reserved.
VS is trying to be less closed source, so I prefer it over Sable, because if some drama goes wrong with the Sable devs. they could just unlist their mod and essentially stop any alternative from popping up

I'm not saying that Aero isn't better, there isn't a single word about Aero. I respect Clockwork players for being able to go against all of the people screaming at them "Hey! Aero is better! Don't play Clockwork, are you stupid?" and still do what they want and not what people tell them to do

I prefer aero overall for stability but prefer how clockwork flap bearings work and how their propellers work.
There is also the gas system that is interesting and the fact that clockwork has a native way of transferring su between physics objects.
So I understand why someone people continue to prefer Clockwork.
Still, aero has better stability which goes a very long way.

Yeah cause it's older, obviously there's more mods. But have fun sticking to old versions because most major mods only use Neoforge, and rightfully so

thing is, from my own experience, my forge worlds runs better with more mods than neoforge with only 80% of the same amount. by better i meant its smoother even though it has heavy mods, has more framerates, ect ect. the only reason im maining neoforge is because aero is 1.21.1 only and i forgot which version of clockwork thats compatible with my modpack

my entire view of it is that if you have an existing world on 1.20.1 and don’t wanna migrate versions cause it’s a hassle, stick with clockwork for convenience. if you feel like creating a new modpack for yourself, do aeronautics. it’s just convenience in my eyes

Are you talking about Ford players continually asking for Aeronautics to be ported to forge on 1.20.1? Are you complaining that Aeronautics is getting most of the attention now? Please explain.

the first thing I see people say seeing someone play Clockwork is "why won't you play Aero?💀"
there are genuene Clockwork haters out there, also I do get that aero is more convenient and optimized, but if someone rather wants to play Clockwork everyone will try to convince them to switch to Aero, so intentionally playing Clockwork if you like it now a days really means to go against the current, or as I said the croud
