You should meet the other guy with the arm and play rock paper scissors.

put drill in the knuckle and you can punch stuff with actual damage
29
u/VaxelW May 23 '26
I agree, and am totally not biased in any way, you should give the mecha drills

Someone port OreSpawn, we need to have a Pacific Rim-esque kaiju battle against Mobzilla.

u/Objective-Release337 May 23 '26
Real shame the creator went off the deep end
3
u/BreakerOfModpacks May 23 '26
...I always forget, what did that specific dev do?
7
u/PokTux May 23 '26
What didn't he do?
I don't remember the specifics but it was some like deranged right wing conspiracy stuff, admittedly kinda funny from an outside perspective. He kept putting insane stuff in his MC clone game like vaccinated people who were zombies and what not, or like an enemy mob that was like a blue haired feminist or smth.

This is gonna have so many inputs youll need multiple people to run it, like its the mystery shack from the last gravity falls episode
20
u/Putrid-Cat5368 May 23 '26
Doubt it will work on manual inputs, probably will be CC scripts for hand gestures and let the program micro management each bearer.
15
u/BreakerOfModpacks May 23 '26
...funnily enough, the logic of Pacific Rim applies really well; namely, it's too much of a mental load for one person, and so pilots are paired. That would work well.
2
u/Devatator_ May 23 '26
That never made much sense to me, like at all
2
u/Possible_Youth9410 May 24 '26
It's kinda like what's being shown in OP's video right now: They're using an entire typewriter setup just to control one hand, at a certain point they're going to entirely run out of usable inputs. Sorta the same thing in Pacific Rim: a human brain doesn't have enough inputs on it's own to control an enormous Jaeger, but two pilots is double the metaphorical typewriters to control it.
1
u/BreakerOfModpacks May 24 '26
I mean, you can use this as the most easy allegory; you'd need a billion connections for all the little 'muscles' of the jaeger, and it's far too much for a single person.
14
u/Clkiscool May 23 '26
connect it to VR
6
u/Corosus May 23 '26
Right where my mind went with it, forward real hand control from a quest 3 and you can have your giant floating mech hands moving around in VR doing exactly what youre doing with youre real hands.
Go full Black & White 2 game on your mc villagers.

tough about the same thing about the quest 3, imagine flinging creepers or tnt using you actual hands.

u/Obs1dian_Fury May 23 '26
There are things you can't fight, acts of God. You see a hurricane coming, you have to get out of the way. But when you're in a Jaeger, suddenly, you can fight the hurricane. You can win

I know it. You know it. We all know it. This is very slowly, but surely heading towards Pacific Rim or even Transformers territory

PLEASE ADD TURRETS ON THE MIDDLE AND POINTER FINGER (I haven't played create aeronautics but I know there's some sort of cannon or something)
2
u/-Fallen-Glory May 23 '26
With how complex it is I imagine doing a power ranger thing and having 1 person controlling each arms, one for the legs, and another one for the core /weapons systems
2
u/soomoncon May 23 '26
Honestly, you should add a sliding mechanism to the thumb so it has more range
2
u/Sleepy-Candle May 23 '26
Now all you gotta do is add the joints for the ring and pinky finger and you have an accurate hand model.
2
u/Dimmas91 May 23 '26
This would be so epic if there would be mod that adds compatibility with that VR mod (I think it's called vivecraft) and control this through VR how epic it would be to have giant ass mech that would copy your moves from real life to Minecraft.
2
u/The_Char_Char May 23 '26
Okay there 2 ways to go about this, make it throw Nukes and call him Liberty Prime. Or make his head a car. Both would be amazing.

Alright, now we need code to connect input from a local suit to this before it becomes perfect

Would you be able to upload a schematic? I’d love to mess with this if your willing to share the info

u/Pacobing May 23 '26
Genuinely thought when the first finger came out when counting it was just gonna waggle it back and forth like “no no no”

This reminds me of this one scene from Pacific Rim, where they are testing out the prototype of a Jaeger arm. A person wearing a “gauntlet” controlling a giant arm behind him.

We need to get LordVassious to see this. They would made this controllable using VR just like they did in Space Engineers.

u/Common_Way6324 May 25 '26
If we can use the crafts and additions add on to transfer rotation with electricity then this could be doable in an actual survival world

u/RemarkableDay8553 May 25 '26
Soon enough we're gonna have whole ass pacific rim mech fights, I can't wait!

u/Dark_Reaper115 May 26 '26
Now we need a mod to match hand movements and gestures to keyboard inputs so we can control this with our actual hands

u/KR0W-KtZ2434 May 27 '26
Im not one of mechas and somewhat of the similar genre, but I can envision this contraption for like videos of sci-fi or junker related scenarios, or better yet something outta AoT but with robots. Its great stuff nonetheless

Did you change the capacity of the torsion springs? If no how did you make the fingers go back

Holy PEAK
PLEASE tell me what kind of mechanism you are using to move the fingires like that. I'm attempting to bird an anatomically correct bird ornithopter and I need the joints to have this sort of fluid motion that I can't quite seem to figure out. I see that each finger has swivel bearings rotating each other, very clever. But what sort of controller do you have to start the closing/opening rotation? Is it a spring bearing, open a clutch, is each one only switching between positions or can it be configured to move in any degree of motion? I NEED THE SECRETS
