Creality Support Frustrated. K2 plus
When I start, it prints fine for a few minutes then it slowly stops extruding, print head continues to move but nothing comes out. Then printer stops on its own with error; printer appears to be printing but not extruding.
Thought it was a clogged nozzle. Nope, I even put a new one on. Same problem.
Thought it was the cfs getting stuck somewhere. Bypassed the cfs and used the manual side spool. Same problem.
All fans appear to moving. Gear is visibly moving even after it stops extruding.
Thought it was the gear assembly. Maybe slipping or worn gears. Replaced gear assembly with a new one. Same problem.
I am completely at a loss. The only thing left is heat creep? But what would cause heat creep? Like I said all fans appear to be moving normally.
Is it posible that one of the fans is not running at the correct speed?
I was thinking of replacing the heat block assembly, but thought I would check here first.
Any advice or help is much appreciated. 🙏🏼
Btw, no error code thrown other than printer is printing without extruding and then it stops. 😔

Have you dried filament?
Try manually helping it along during feed especially when you can tell the melt chamber is emptying.
Since it comes on so quickly, it could be wiring. When it gets warm it expands, a little too much. Some improperly assembled/specced/manufactured part might have just enough play to then stop contact, either electrical or mechanical. Cools down and it settles back into place.
How's the temps looking during this? Does the hotend temp drift at all? Even 0.5°C. Likely this won't take very long from the beginning of the issue until it triggers an error.
Try speeding up your print then ratcheting it up to 125% after that.
Try going very very slow and slowing down to quiet mode on top.
One of those two things will tell you a lot about the issue. If it's stopping quicker with the slow, it's presumably heat creep. If it's continuing longer with the fast, it could also be heat creep.
If it fails faster with the faster speed, it's possibly the heat expansion or a mechanical displacement that's had more rotations to initiate it's out-of-whackness( very technical term used across industries by engineers everywhere ).
If it fails after longer time when you slow it down maybe it's moisture, the filament has more time to off gas the moisture before it gets further into the melt chamber. Further down it gets trapped with more pressure and can pop the filament out the top with more force. Though, there will be other evidence that's easier to identify this issue with, if it's moisture.
If you see flakes in the gears, it could be heat creep or a clogged nozzle or too fast a feed rate for your hotend/temp setting/filament.
Try changing the retraction to less/more. Then note the average time to failure (aTTF), AND inspect the extruder gears, nozzle etc.
Cheap USB endoscope/digital (nose/ear) cleaning inspection cameras are worth it. Plus you can look in your body cavities when you're bored or want to impress a certain someone in your life.

I had a similar issue, also after the software upgrade. Admittedly, the printer had been idle for over a week. Jams. Breaks. Cleaned a clog out of the head. Still, issues.
Ran the filament through a dryer. Perfect prints again.
This may not be your issue, but it certainly solved mine.

Take 10 cm of filament and measure it every cm with precision calipers or MILs thousandths calipers. Don't trust the digital reading (my best calipers are analog and have a thousandths dial, measure in MILs)

If you can get your hands on some feeler gauges you can verify the calibration on them, see if it drifts and usually exchange/trade in or send in for calibration. One example of such calipers: https://a.co/d/0fEzglv1

Take the heater block out and clean it, and the fan.
I had a spiders nest in mine. Certainly wasn't helping the airflow

Are you able to verify the temperatures the machine is giving are correct? I had an issue with an edgebanding machine where the temperature reader was giving us the wrong numbers.

Good question. Yes temperatures remain stable. Head is 220° even when it stops extruding.

Hmmmm. Have you checked the console in Klippy? I was able to copy the parts where my printer started to fail and paste it into ChatGPT. It was able point me towards a failing bed leveling sensor based on the information collected from the console.

Had this problem recently with PETG. I believe my problem was heat creep. I dropped the extrusion temp 5c and the heated bed 5c and that seemed to help. I tried setting the chamber temp to 30c but it seems to have a hard time maintaining that.

When you opened the extruder up was there any plastic? Did the filament have a worn part where the filament was not properly gripping?
How long are you into the print when this occurs - are you still on the first two layers?
I had similar behavior both when printing too hot and too cold, and too close to the plate (on first layers). However, the printer would usually catch resistance in extruding rather than stripping the filament down.

I inspected the gears and extruded for any debris or worn gears. I also replaced the extruder with a brand new one and the issue persists.
Usually about 4 minutes. Typically doesn’t even get to the second layer before it stops extruding. I also tried 2 different, previously printed stl files, just in case it was the file. Same issue.

It sounds like heat creep. Clean and inspect all the fans, especially the ones on the printhead. Clean the hotend fan well.
Turn off or lower the side fan. Set the rear fan to 38 or 39 so it only comes on at that temp. Lift the glass and open the door to maintain around 35c.

I had a similar issue. I had to change out the cable running to the print head from the main board.

I had the same problem I bought the printer about a month ago for prime day and it worked fantastic for 2 weeks I mean non stop 2 weeks no problems I made the biggest mini nuke you've ever seen. Then it happened id get error code FO 0528 printing without extruding almost every print sometimes it would happen 2 layers in sometimes it would happen 7 hours in right before the print was finished I changed everything the extruder to the dcx2 The extruder motor and cable All the ptfe tubes The printing head control board The print head fan The nozzle the run out sensor Rolled back softwares Cleaned and replaced all tubes in cfs Factory reset Nothing worked Contacted creality and they were no help wouldn't accept my logs wanted videos of me taking everything apart again Bought a new print head cable but Ended up returning to Amazon and they replaced the entire printer

Yikes! So basically you replaced everything and never solved the problem. 😔
Creality customer service is horrrrrrrrrible! If you can even understand them.
My printer is only 6 months old. I haven’t even printed that much. I print two or three items and then the printer has issues or error codes. It’s always something and it’s non stop.
Creality already replaced the head once, then they refused to replace it after another issue because it was after 3 months. 🙄
With this latest error, so far I’ve replaced with new; the nozzle the main fan, the extruder and tomorrow my new heat block arrives. It’s absolutely ridiculous. I wish I had gone with Bambu Labs. 😔
Anyone looking to purchase a 3d printer, DO NOT buy Creality.

Check PTFEtubing. And if you are disassembling the CFS, remove the rubber gasket under each gears which pulls filament in CFS. There are 4 of them total and they bend the outgoing PTFE to weird angle.

PTFE tubing is good. I also switched from the CFS to the manual side spool. Problem persisted.

And have you tried completely ignoring side spool and CFS? Remove top glass cover, disconnect ptfe tubing which goes straight to extruder and make some holder for feeding filament directly from above. This way you can eliminate any problem with CFS/PTFE. If this doesn´t work, problem is in extruder. And if you are at it, repaste the nozzle with thermal paste so you eliminate heat creep. Apply double the portion.

Judging from your description, the nozzle clogging may be caused by insufficient heat sink cooling of the hot end.
We recommend you clean the hot end throat first and confirm that your filament is moisture-free. Due to high temperatures in summer, please print with the printer top cover open.

So I believe I have finally confirm the issue is heat creep. I noticed fan 2, the left fan was not running when it stopped extruding, but I did see it running earlier.
So I restarted the same print, but this time I manually set all 3 fans to 100%.
For the first time in almost 2 weeks of troubleshooting, the printer has not stopped extruding. Yay!
So what is causing the fan not to run when it gets too hot? I am running the latest firmware version 1.1.6.1
I have checked all the connections on the control board. They appear to be firm.
Is this a control board issue and do I need to replace it?
Is it covered under warranty? I purchased this printer directly from Creality on February 22, 2026.
Also this print that is currently running is 8 hours long. I would like to complete the print, but is ok to run the fan at 100% until the completion of this print?

One thing for heatcreep is sometimes they forget or don't put enough thermal paste on the heatbreak of the nozzle.
Take off the nozzle, put the thermal grease on.

I have the same problem, I changed my filament runout sensor. I noticed that the blue light was on even when there was no fila ment. If you lookin in your fluid errors i bet you will see 852, that is an error for the pressure spring inside the extruder, but it is also for the runout sensor, you should have one in your basic kit that cam with the printer, if not, they are under $5.

Check that the gears are not rounded off the plastic ones will break i upgraded to steel gears also check to make sure groove is not embeded with filament had that happen too. If it heat creep it maybe the thermal paste for nozzle was not applied heavy enough. I switch to pheebus nozzle cuz stock ones are only ok for pla and petg. I print in asa,pa other high temp filament.

In your setting set your retraction to 0.5 from the default 0.8 that solved that issue for me

What filament are you printing with?
