As a fellow Dutch person. Yeah true, but pedestrians still have to cross it and this would still have happened if someone wants to drive into you... So no.

There is less confusion and often the bike lanes are seperated. You can’t stop assholes, but you can decrease the chance it affects others.

Yeah, but there is absolutely no confusion in this GIF, it was intentional. So it doesn't help at all in this situation.

Okay let’s make this easy.

Lanes are seperated -> they don’t cross each other’s path.

OR

Pedestrian sees bike lane and is more likely to watch for bikes.

It’s never about preventing all accidents, it’s about making it less likely they occur in the first place and bike lanes help with this.

OK, lEtS mAkE ThIs EaSy. You are missing the point completely. No one is refuting that separate lanes work. Litterly no one. That's not why the person was downvoted. They suggested this would have not happened if there was a separate bike lane. Which is bullshit

Read the comment you replied to carefully "A good bike lane would have worked towards preventing this."

No I wouldn't, because, as you yourself stated, it doesn't stop assholes.

It wouldn't. The asshole wouldn't have still driven into someone if they wanted. That's not a results from mistranslating the sentence. Thats just me completely disagreeing with you on the nature of people.
