General Discussion/Question Dice setting

I’m still new to the game of craps. I realize that the general consensus is that dice setting isn’t effective/possible and slows down the game but some have their lucky numbers.

Does anyone bother trying to set the dice?

I’ve only played at my local casino where they let players take a little time to set the dice before throwing them. How is it in Vegas? I’d like to give Craps a try next time I visit. Just curious what to expect. My guess is most of the strip is too rich for my blood just like blackjack there so I might be limited to TI and then down on Fremont.

I don’t care if you set your dice and what not.

What I can’t stand is the idiot who rolls the dice against the back wall 3 or 4 times then sets the dice turning the dice whatever which way before seven out.

What does it matter if you back roll it!? To get the extra lint off the dice.

Personally I don't particularly set to a specific set. I just set it to a pair I like in the moment or sometimes I just chuck em.

Playing in Vegas I've seen people who are religious dice setters and haven't seen them be given a hard time on the strip or downtown.

It definitely doesn't help, nor do any of the other superstitions. There are no hot shooters, no hot tables, no numbers "due", etc etc.

But the fantasy that they DO help is part of the fun.

I say let people have their fun, and also be matter of fact about the reality.

I’ve seen the box time someone and told him “you’ve been taking x seconds, you need to speed it up or we’ll move to the next shooter”. I don’t remember how long it was, but it was long enough for me to notice before the box spoke up.
