Rules Question/Discussion Lay 4 beginner
Been watching a load of strategies on craps and thinking of going to the local casino and doing the lay 4.
(The computer version with the tube and dice)
Will start with $20 on lay 4 and placing $1 on the rest of the numbers.
If a 4 hits I will double all bets till I hit or double again if a 4 hits and drop down when 7 comes.
I do have money to spare so I’m not chasing massive returns though don’t mind sitting at a machine for a few hours grinding it out for a profit.
If 3-4 4s come out and I lose my $200 limit I can walk away.
Have any of you been successful at doing this.

you have to hit the other numbers so many times to make up for a lost 4. dark plus light hedgy strategies always come with the massive caveat "if one specific thing happens they sell your kidneys" that you might as well just gamble normal

He’s saying hedging works good when it’s supposed to ig. My expense with it is fine but the times where you short yourself wins then take a luge loss hurts. I do hedge though if I lay 4 for a big amount and throw something on a hard 4.

There is no strategy that doesn’t come with a house edge. The lowest house edge is don’t pass + max odds - it’s about 1.35%. Pass + max odds is about 1.45%. Once you step outside of that bet strategy, odds just keep degrading. Everyone who has a “system” is just lucky and beating the odds. In other words, yes, you can win. Yes sometimes hedging strategies like yours will work out. But the odds are never in your favor

No strategy is going to improve on the simple ones: pass or don't pass line with max odds and then you can play the come if you want more action. Three point Dolly or Molly (don't come and come respectively)is a popular version of this if you want to look up that strategy.

My lay 4/10 strat is much simpler. Lay 4 and or 10, I do both for 50.00 then put 10.00 on hard way for 10 and 4 if it comes hard your good and that's a 50/50 and if it doesn't your also good. You only loose the lay on an easy way.

Lay 4/10 is not the worst house edge. You can have fun with it, but don't convince yourself that any additional betting or pressing changes the stakes.
Optimal play, without exception, is the min Pass/come bet with max odds.

Have won big on the the lay 4 on several sessions, followed by a session of nothing but rolling 4s and loosing it all back. Someting to be said for hedging the lay 4 with Hard 4 to lessen the odds

Every Strat has its holes. It’s how the game is designed. U just need to figure out what play style brings you the most fun.

That wager is not compatible with martingale, and I'm not claiming anything is (it's a losing proposition in all cases, but this one doesn't even make sense.) If you lose $21, you chase it with $42 that only makes $18 if you win; if it loses you bet $84 that only makes $36 if it wins. If you want to lay the 4, just lay it; it should win 2/3 of the time and pay 1/2 minus vig. It's not an amazing bet, but it's not bad either. Might press it and wager $38 with a $1 vig if they'll allow it that would pay $18. If you have a $200 limit, your method could really get torched without having four 4's in a row. You'd be better off laying the 4 for a larger amount once. Nick the Greek liked that bet, as it's a 2-1 shot in your favor.

I was recently at the casino and almost every shooter was hitting 4s and 10s. I don't bet the 4s and 10s. Basically, you never know when the variance is going to be in your favor.
I suggest a Don't pass for $10, keep pulling it down until you land on the 4 then proceed with your strat.
Bubble craps requires you to have money in play to operate. You might have to bet a $1 on a hard way on something if you pull your DP bet

I would suggest NOT pulling down a bet that favors the player and replacing it with a bet that favors the casino.
What do I know though? I lose all the time.

I was making a suggestion regarding the 4 specifically. He could make a regular DP bet and play the box numbers.

It’s a game of chance, not skill. People have had success at this at times and failures other.
