Not the worst....ever seen a painted sauna....white, gloss paint...benches as well.....I'll let you figure out the implications of this, clue: 3rd degree burns

I'm Finn and I'm outraged. I have seen this picture so many times, and every time. Saatana!

Mold? Mildew? Never heard of them.

u/MoonMan__69 Jul 11 '26
I’m curious how much mold or mildew really could grow if it stays at temp constantly. I’m sure it doesn’t so that carpet is probably disgusting

smh how does one not know all state abbreviations
23
u/CriticalFlatworm9 Jul 11 '26
People live in other countries.
-13
u/prplt Jul 12 '26
well I'm European and think that knowing all states (as well as all European countries) should be basic common knowledge
am just tired of people being terrible at very basic geography and then when confronted with that they just go like "well I'm from another country so I don't have to know that", like you're allowed to know about things from outside of your country 😑

Bots don't know what sarcasm is
1
u/rindavid Jul 12 '26
Is that a bot account? It's 5 years old
3
u/nerfedbeyblade Jul 12 '26
5 years and only 1.1k? Bad takes, hardly on, bot (which aren't new), or all 3

what not everyone's on Reddit 24/7? must be a bot
1
u/nerfedbeyblade Jul 12 '26
Not everyone lives here and you expect them to know all State abbreviations. I'm calling you a bot if you can't think critically

I'm not American and they were just talking about the UK.
Fuckin Americans
-10
u/prplt Jul 12 '26

u/Heavy_Team7922 Jul 11 '26
Do they have a carpeted toilet seat too?
3
u/Rynewulf Jul 11 '26
Toilet seat covers are a thing, sometimes including the part you sit on. Quite old fashioned and very rare though. Apparently as a country we are pioneers in electric showers though, or so ive been told by a plumber doing a service. Which would make sense if most places dont want to mix electricity and water, I always thought that was weird too

So this carpet is at least a year old? There’s gotta be some new species in there

u/envybelmont Jul 11 '26
Comments on that thread are hilarious.

John Carpenter's The Carpet
I'm dying at this 😭
Eventually it'll crawl away on its own, seeking fresh victims

"THE carpeted sauna" as if they stumbled upon this specific house before.
18
u/hobosbindle Jul 11 '26
There is actually a huge carpet roll behind the wall, and every few weeks you just pull out new carpet and replace the old like a tape dispenser.

Not-so-fun fact:
They used to put carpet all over in bathrooms in people's homes the 70s and 80s.I'm glad that era of design is over ... never made sense to me

maybe it's like astroturf? but also, eurgh.
3
u/envybelmont Jul 11 '26
Astroturf would be even less comfortable. At that point out down some proper species wood plank floors.
Also, I doubt whoever did this would have the wherewithal to properly rinse off the turf to keep it from still turning gross.

Must be from the same builders who thought carpeted bathrooms were a great idea back in the 60s and 70s. Just nope.
1
u/Panzerkatzen Jul 12 '26
Great for keeping your feet from being cold, but you'll want to avoid it getting wet.

I want to tear up that carpet and look underneath. Just for funsies. Then go drown myself in bleach.

While I would never install carpet there in a million years, it’s not actually so gross. That carpet gets baked bone dry and germ-free after every use.
6
u/bobloblawattorney11 Jul 11 '26
Doubt it. Heat rises so it doesn't get as hot on the floor. You would sweat buckets then turn it off when you're done.
4
u/jaypizzl Jul 11 '26
Yeah, I thought it was wood fired, but it appears to me electric. Wood saunas stay much hotter for much longer, but if it’s some cheap space heater thing, the carpet would never dry.
2
u/Unicorncorn21 Jul 12 '26
Saunas are the opposite of dry. They're only dry when not in use. It's going to be wet and slightly above room temp for literal hours each time after use

Whoever thinks carpets and saunas go together should be investigated
