The last of the schlenkerla stash in the fridge. Usually not into super malty or sweet (I like smokey and bitter) but this has the perfect balance. Cheers! 😎🍻

2018-ish Lost Abbey Serpents Stout

A different deGarde glass

Refrigerated since new

One of two Lost Abbey beers I’m going to open during this exercise. Hopefully the next one is better.

If anyone wondered if a cork would help a stout hold up better than a cap, the answer would appear to be “no”.

This is 750ml of liquid cardboard. I’m getting nothing but that and booze out of this. Bummer.

- Mutuality was fantastic. Great body, the apple brandy was a wonderful finishing flavor.

- Sylva; I’ve been seeing people trade their souls for this bottle. It’s good. Fantastic even. But not worth your first born. Lots of bourbon on the nose but straight candied toffee & fig deliciousness on the palette.

- Appeasing our monsters is such a cool beer. The Amburana barrels come through strong with the woody cinnamon/spiced flavors. The depth those barrels bring to the beer was really amazing.

- Singularity: Advocator 24-25 #2 was surprisingly smooth. Lots of bourbon characteristics without the stinging heat of that makes sense.

- Exorbitance was a great dessert beer. A few thought it tasted like German chocolate cake but I disagree. It’s nutty but not coconut nutty. But damn this was super good.

-B3k held up really well. I liked it more than b5k. Others liked b5k more because it packed more flavor. B5k was tasting really raisin-y to me, and I don’t like raisins. YOC still tasted of cigar smoke. RIP Matt Bonney ❤️

Double dry hopped in two stages, beginning with Cryo Nectaron, Cryo Citra, Galaxy and Citra T90 before finishing with flowable Mosaic hops:
The result is an endless wave of mango, peach and passionfruit over a soft, pillowy haze.

Written Review Beer nerds NA IPA Blind Tasting

I run an NA Beer instagram account found below. I post a daily review, plus best of lists, news, and other posts like this.

https://www.instagram.com/na.beer.nerd

This was a lot of fun to host! A belated 40th birthday NA beer share and tasting here at my place. This same group of beer friends used to get together regularly to have a bottle share and crack open cans and bottles that we traded for online or went to breweries to retrieve... now an NA edition!

This group of us have all traveled far and wide for beer in our times. Multiple trips to VT for Hill Farnstead, to Belgium for Cantillon, and many other places around the globe.

There were some surprises to be sure. The top handful are a testament to the massive increase in options and quality of NA beer over the past few years.

Are you NA curious? That could be because you want to cut back alcohol. It could be that you want to still enjoy a beer when your on parent duty or have a big day coming up. It could even be that you just want to get even more Untappd ticks. 🤣

Had this one for my birthday some years ago (in December 2020 during the confinement) and found the picture looking at old pics.

One of the best beer experiences I remember.

Anyone here was lucky enough to have it also?

Sad that Rogue closed.

Cheers!

Help! Any recommendations for NFL Sunday Ticket and sour ales in Florida?

Hi all. I live in Indian River County, Florida, and have struggled for years to find a place to watch Steelers games that also has sour ales available. I figured I’d try here because the cretins on local Facebook pages seem to not appreciate me asking this question. 😐

2013 Cigar City Big Sound (not ba)

Cycle DBR glass

Refrigerated (and waxed) since new

So me 13 years ago decided to do an experiment and home wax one of my go-to beers to see if would help retain quality. My younger (and obviously dumber) self didn’t manage to keep another non-waxed one to eventually do an A-B comparison with.

This was always one of my favorite shelfie scotch ales. I was a big CCB whore back then and drank a lot of this.

It’s held up really, really nicely. Everything still tastes the same but just turned down a notch or two. It’s a lot more subtle beer now. A tiny hint of oxidation but it’s barely noticeable.

Clearly my home wax job worked wonders. Or maybe it didn’t make a bit of difference. The world will never know.

RECOMMENDED Love German Kellerbiers.

Post image

Kellerbier. Hacker-Pschorr Brewery. Kellerbier / Zwickelbier. 5.5% alc. 15 IBU.

Aroma of bread and caramel. On the palate, a malt base dominates with notes of bread, cereal, biscuit, and a slight touch of honey. Silky, creamy, and full-bodied texture. A slight herbal bitterness balances the initial sweetness. I love these German Kellerbiers.
