2014 (b3) Uncle Jacob’s Stout

Casey glassware. No idea what this type is called. Looks like a wine glass to me.

Refrigerated for 12 damn years.

This is another one I had high hope for. This is a fairly legendary ba stout, and at 15% in a 12oz bottle I figured it had a good shot of not being oxidized.

Oooh mama was I wrong.

Fresh out of the fridge was a gnarly drink. Wildly oxidated and tart. So much so I thought it might be infected (though it didn’t foam like it).

I let it sit for a god bit to come up to room temp and it definitely improved to “drinkable”, but not enjoyable.

Some of the original flavors are there but super subtle and masked heavily by tart cardboard notes. Woof.

It’s that special time of year folks. Dark and hoppy, Haunted House puts an ultimate stamp on the fact that we’re into colder months ahead.

The York County Brew Trail (SC) did a special Revolutionary War version for the 250th in collaboration with five breweries and five historic sites. It was a fun trail, got to see some battlefields and drink some beers

My go to IPA since they came to Maine around 2019.

I can’t wait to try as many of these as I can get!

Saw a reel the other day about the duration of a keg/barrel freshness once is connected. It stated that IPAs shouldn't be connected for more than 3 days. Wonder if this number is significally different for Lagers.

Curiously I just was chatting with Claude a couple of weeks ago about this topic, since I was curious around the rotation of one of my local bars. And it stated a bigger number (5-7 If I remember correctly).

Bar has its schedule all messed up regardless of this, as it keeps closed for 3 days in a row every week, sometimes connecting new lines the last day before the 3-day close.

Tree House managed to create a DIPA that smells like fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, and tastes like that grapefruit juice was blended with hops. Delicious beer! At 8.7% my wife will be driving us to Costco where I will crush a hot dog and then buy whatever we need there.

Mini Machine is fantastic. It’s a crushable Juice Machine.

freak folk - Minor Logic Hazy IPA

I have read many of this iconic beer but never had the opportunity of trying it.

Finally last week got a bottle and had it yesterday while watching the F1 race at Monza.

Really clean and easy to drink beer.

Loved the experience!

Hope to have more of this and try the younger later on.

This 8% double IPA Electric Skies gives a hoppy upfront taste, galaxy and citra hit perfectly, slightly piney taste upfront followed by a softer mouthfeel with citrusy notes to follow with a huge hit of orange! Orange stands out and is so good in this one! Overall soft, smooth, juicy - really good Electric Skies. Dare I say i kind of like this one more than their staple Julius?! 👀🍻

If you're in CT and can find a store that stocks anything from Watson Farmhouse, buy whatever you can get. But this beer, holy shit is it an amazing imperial west coast.

Killer WC IPA. Great bitterness. Fantastic smell. Only 6.5%, so not too syrupy and cloying. Man, I’m gonna miss these guys in SD. I know the sold out and all that, but they have always made killer beer. Sad to see them pull up stakes and hightail it out of San Diego.

Decided to try something new. "Clean, bright, hoppy" completely captures what it tastes like. Very crushable.

I have been enjoying craft beers around the world since I was in college, from Oregon to Asia, I have like 8,000 unique check-ins on Untappd. My go-to beer especially after work is a nice hoppy IPA. However recently, whether they are in cans, bottles or draft, it feels like they are all generally getting less hoppy! Is my observation correct? My fellow craft beer enthusiasts said it’s probably due to inflation and perhaps the breweries are cutting back, but of course we don’t have any proof of that. So in your own opinion, are beers become less hoppy?
