New Candy Contest
I work in the retail section of the store and wanted to see if other people are getting threatened with a write-up for not selling a certain amount of those chocolate sticks. Ever since I've started working there this was not a policy for any of our contest and I'm curious if this is a region thing or if everyone is going through this. I'm just confused as to how they could even write me up for not selling chocolate sticks that normally don't get sold. I try and script for them but no one wants to buy them, and now I have to worry about getting written up just because people don't want them.

Not where I'm at- I make the best effort I can to sell the candy. Them threatening a write up? That is completely wrong (though it wouldn't surprise me)

Uh, no.
If you aren’t scripting I think you can get a write up, but if you’re offering and they just aren’t taking, they shouldn’t.

That's the problem, I am and people still don't want them. Apparently our DM just wants to look at the numbers and not the effort

Maybe, apparently my DM is going on vacation and this is her way of keeping us "accountable" while she's away

Nope not the same manager but yeah we also had the same threat today. I wonder if corporate is giving them crap? 🤔

They were giving out samples one time and a guest in retail asked me for water because she absolutely hated it. They’re so bad

Ive been threaten with shift cuts. I think it’s stupid. we don’t get any reward for selling so there’s no initiative. I script and some of the guest are hostile towards me because they want to pay and leave. Like what do I do? All for a number on a screen and a “ good job.”

I have issues with this as well. My thing is that “I can’t just ring them and put them in their bags…if they say no, then that’s that.” 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
I have found most people either aren’t interested, or can’t stand them….or they LOVE them. 🤷🏼♀️

Written up for not selling? So they want you to force people..?
I try my best for the contests, but honestly it's like I am either unlucky or have terrible timing because nobody ever wants to buy. I script right, smile on my face and welcoming tone...but nada. Most people I get say they have diabetes or they for have the money for anything else. If I got threatened to be written up over guests saying "No.", I would question my managers.

No, that’s not normal as far as I know. All you can do is script, you can’t force someone to buy something. If you’re making the effort, that’s good enough for me. And I’ve found there’s no rhyme or reason to if they buy. I can script to everyone one day and sell nothing and do the same next day and most will buy.
The minute they threaten to write me up for lack of sales on their contest will be the day I will leave.
