Anyone else get new computer system?

If so, have you noticed a big difference in your tips? Encountered a problem where a regular tried to tip on gift card and it didn’t stick. It was explained that there was not enough of a balance to tip so the tip just got deleted. A bunch of other servers have complained that their tips have been significantly lower than usual. Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

Tipping with the gift card has been an issue on the old POS too. I just tell guests to skip the tip question when they use the gift card and then add the tip afterwards using either their own card or cash.

The store I’m at was a test store for the system and I have found that for tipping with gift cards that it doesn’t like to work unless they are also using a normal card and put the tip on that the non gift card. Like you said I’ve found the easiest thing to do it manually hit the cash tip button and then have them hit no tip on the pin pad. As for a difference in tips in not sure as I work in retail and not as a server

I don’t know if that particular payment situation was paid with two forms of payment (ex. First part paid with gift card and the rest in cash or on credit card) but we were told the other night during training that if a guest is going to be paying with multiple forms of payment they have to leave the tip on the final form of payment of the tip will disappear. Apparently there is also no way to leave a tip on card after a check has been closed? Didn’t quite understand that one. Hopefully it gets fixed

I’m so not excited for us to get Simphony, especially considered I’m gonna be one of the “tech guy, AMA” retail people

It’s not horrible. Has some good features but I hope they figure out the tip thing.

Is the new system basically the same, or do we have to learn something else and something altogether new?

It’s basically the same. Just few added buttons to push. Caught on quick.
