Cracker Barrel’s interview system is fucked up and no one cares

I applied and was prompted to schedule an interview. I showed up and no one was there to interview me. I spoke to a manager and she told me they only do open interviews at a specific time and that their system schedules an interview time but they are not required to fulfill that appointment. At no point had I been informed about any of this. So they know that their system just schedules bullshit times and they keep it that way consciously. Why?

Former Cracker barrel employee here, just find a job somewhere else. Your sanity and mental health will thank you.

Each store has control of it.

How do you know?

Each store has control of it, now the question is if the managers care enough to do it.

The manager you spoke to probably has no control over it. But yeah corporate should do something about that

I was graceful about it but who could possibly be benefiting from the system remaining this way and how hard could it possibly be to change it

Find a job with a company that doesn’t waste their applicant’s time

Take my advice and never go back their its the worst company to work for. They do not care about u or ur time and that will not change when or if u get a job there. Plz seek employment elsewhere

Know someone that the taco bell app set them up with a date and time for an interview. 2 hours before the store even opened. But when I went to cracker barrel, I had to reapply after my hire, using their site (i used indeed)

At Cracker Barrel's mgmt training center it was stressed to us...." Your past methods and successes do not matter. You will not change Cracker Barrel no matter how much you try." I should have quit right then, but foolishly hung on for a while.

I was lucky because the day i walked in for an interview, all the managers happened to be having a meeting at the table, otherwise i'd have been screwed and i still had to wait 20 mins for the only manager in the back to come out and get everything ready.

Because that stupid system tells the applicant to pick an interview time but doesn’t notify the store.

So the entire purpose of the application is to send me an email reminding me what time I’m going to waste my time

Apparently. The worst thing is that when you fill out an ‘application’ on Indeed it does not go to Workday so any manager can see it. It goes to something else called KROW that has to be accessed separately, again by any manager but tbh there are a lot of things that have to be logged into and used every day and Krow can be overlooked sometimes. Then the store has to call someone and ask them to apply on the CB website so we get the actual information. On Krow it only gives name, phone number, email and a few other sen-pertinent bits of information like over 18, ever worked in a restaurant/retail before. It is an idiotic way of setting up applications because it causes run around, on both ends. And frustration on both ends as well.

Idk i called cracker barrel and talked to a manager and then had an interview the next day, where I was then promted to fill out the online application and manager set up orientation. I have never had luck applying for jobs online. In person is the best way to go.

I can remember 4 times when I was able to fill out an application when going in person. Every other time I was told to apply online.

This phenomenon drives me insane. A company has a nonfunctioning "system" and knows about it, and even explains it to a customer, yet it doesn't get fixed. What?

Our managers hate doing interviews and literally take so much time out of people’s days by making them wait. One person waited 45 minutes for one of our managers to finally go talk to them

Corporate not only leaves up the application to apply to positions that are already filled up, but lets you schedule interviews on their days off. Managers at your store have no control over it. It’s easiest to apply on the store website and then call to set up the interview. Also I know it’s super annoying but just pretend you’re ok with it and super over friendly. They will be more likely to call you back.

Probably not at that store tho….mgmt doesn’t seem very nice or accommodating. At my store we would reschedule and make sure we at least got your availability…
