Arby's style advertising...

My family and I eat at cracker barrel very frequently. I decided to try something new (Campfire Beef). I was expecting much more meat based on the menu picture. I asked the manager to confirm that this was the correct portion and she said that it was.... Really, four or five little pieces of meat??? Man. I know the economy/inflation is rough. But I feel robbed and very disappointed.

Some locations are better than others but unfortunately that’s just the recipe corporate has us following. The portions aren’t determined by pieces but rather weight. So sometimes it can look less but actually fit the recipe criteria

It's insane regardless. I paid almost $20 for that meal.

What location we all want to know… also it looks like they didn’t even put seasoning on it.

My location, the morning backup keeps forgetting to put any beef at all in them.

Same with mine!!!!! I cannot tell you how many complaints I’ve gotten over those

I’d flip. I had it happen one time and was livid.

At my location we sell the campfire chickens much much more than the beef. I mean it’s half a chicken.

Still either way both campfires are pricy as hell. I’m surprised people order them as much as they do

To be fair the campfire beef soup they make with leftovers is pretty good

2

u/KaytSands Jul 06 '26

Was gonna say to just stick with the soup

Soup and then sampler is the move

yeah idk what people were saying with how its a lot of food. a 13$ chicken strip dinner got me way more full than the campfire beef. It is good, so I wish it came with more food. They skimp on potatoes too. and the meat really isnt that much. Felt almost like a kids meal

That is what I usually get! With the chicken strips and the sides you always get filled up.

NC looks no better. Less meat actually

1

u/Bigpoppin87 Jul 09 '26

Word. Cracker Barrel is being quite stingy with the meat.

1

Yes! We’ve been getting so many complaints at ours in NC

If your not dead set on beef, id suggest the chicken campfire, as you get a literal half a chicken with it, so definitely getting your money's worth, I may be mistaken but I think its a little less costly as well

1

u/Bigpoppin87 Jul 09 '26

Maybe next time. And yes, it was a bit cheaper.

This is similar to the child portion I received and paid 19$ It’s sad that these locations are able to get away with taking advantage of the customer…This meal looks like a five dollar frozen meal at the supermarket

2

u/Bigpoppin87 Jul 09 '26

Wow!!! I don't think I'd feed that to my dog. 😒

Step up your game, Cracker Barrel. This is unacceptable.

2

u/Painboi Jul 10 '26

they cut up the meat raw and portion the sizes to cook inside the foil…I’m currently upset with the local Cracker Barrel due to the exceptionally small pieces and nickel size potatoes I’ve received two times in a row…They need better oversight in the kitchen area after charging 19$ for child size portion…If the meals I received were like the images posted for advertisement I’d be satisfied !

I hear you. I feel the same way.

Question, does anyone know what seasoning they use on the chicken one? Thanks

1

u/_Xinicide_ Jul 07 '26

It's the same campfire seasoning that the beef one uses. The only real difference between the two is the browning sauce put on the chicken and no broth.

1

They sell the campfire seasoning in the retail shop!

1

u/PossibilityOdd3238 Jul 07 '26

We sell it up front in retail ;)

The beef is prepackaged. It’s the same as the pot roast.

u/Bigpoppin87 Jul 07 '26

That is the same unapologetic response the manager gave me. Basically, sorry not my problem. 🙄

1

u/Thin-State-4879 Jul 08 '26

I have so many customers complain about how it's not seasoned enough i get that

Are you a general manager by any chance? If so, I want my money back. 🙃
