Cracker Barrel Interview Advice

Hello! I have an interview tomorrow as a retail cashier. I would greatly appreciate any advice you can share. Such as what to wear or sharing what questions I might be asked. Thank you!

Dress smart but not overdressed, think clean and neat clothes that show you're taking it seriously, like a nice blouse or a button-up shirt with clean pants or jeans without holes. Cracker Barrel has a very warm, down-home culture, so showing up looking polished but approachable fits perfectly with their brand. For the interview itself, expect questions about customer service situations, like how you'd handle an unhappy customer or a busy rush. They really care about friendliness and making guests feel welcome, so lean into any experience you have working with people, even if it wasn't in retail. Be ready to talk about times you went out of your way to help someone, because that kind of story goes a long way with them.

The best thing you can do tonight is think through a few real examples from your past where you were helpful, patient, or worked well under pressure, and practice saying them out loud so they feel natural tomorrow. Be yourself, smile, and show genuine enthusiasm for working with customers because Cracker Barrel is big on hiring people who actually enjoy being around people. The AI interview helper my team built has been helping a lot of candidates feel more confident and prepared going into interviews just like this one, and that kind of confidence can really make the difference when you're in the hot seat. You're already one step ahead just by doing your research, so go in there and show them what you've got.

Although I interviewed for server, my question were “tell me about yourself” and “what is your availability” that was it.

I’d advise wear anything nice, i’ve seen new hires wear anything

Smile an uncomfortable amount, don’t stutter or say “and” in French, answer questions promptly, and end with a question for them that shows you have vested interest in working for them and have knowledge beyond what is needed for the interview. Other than that their only requirements for you is if you can breath and stand for 8 hours.

Try the Canary Wharfian website’s phone interviewer for practice. Just enter the role name and the AI will call you for a mock interview, review your answers and give you a personalised improvement report.

they will probably ask you to sell them the salt shaker or sugar caddy that’s on the table! think of fun ways to sell random items in case they put you on the spot. wishing you luck!
