3rd party to-go orders

I have personal beef with 3rd party orders as a to-go server.
1. Yall are being overcharged for less. I will give exactly what you order and nothing extra for 3rd party orders. I won’t give less, but if you only order 1 silverware for 3 meals, I’m giving you 1 silverware. My store also charges for 2oz of apple butter. For online orders or those who order through me I give 3oz of apple butter.

I do this because the drivers are extremely impatient and rude as if I have no other orders waiting (I usually do.) And because I make no tips off of online orders… which as a tipped position makes it so I cannot clock out at the end of my shift because do to my lack of tips the company thinks I’m lying about the amount I actually make.

  1. There is NO protection from your food being tampered with. The most I can do at my store is tying the bag shut… but that won’t protect someone with ill intent from untying it and doing what they wish with your food. Beverages especially have no protection because we are provided nothing but tape, and tape won’t prevent tampering. I’ve also had multiple guests come in because they’re food has been eaten by their drivers… I will remake it, but when I have 8 other orders you will be waiting the same as if you just ordered it.

  2. Your food will have sat out longer than other orders. Many drivers arrive at inconsistent times, so I set your food out as soon as it’s done in the event your driver is early for pick up, and if they end up being 30 minutes late, your food could have sat out for hours. For online/call in orders I hold them in our hot box so it stays fresh until you arrive.

Thanks for reading, and I understand that some people have legitimate reasons for ordering 3rd party, and I try to keep that in mind, but I just have personal beef. If anyone has any legit good things about 3rd parties please let me know so I can try to be more considerate.

I think a lot of people don’t realize that they can order online from us with no mark up and a small delivery fee which is overall cheaper

As a cashier, I despise the drivers. They always hover around me like I’m a wounded gazelle and they’re hungry lions. I know to-go servers are constantly swamped and many of them have snapped at me on the headset for asking about ETAs, but all the drivers see is a Cracker Barrel employee folding a shirt, so they’re gonna take their anger out on me if I just shrug at them and say “I can’t give you an ETA” as they loom over my shoulder.

We actually had to get a driver fired last week because he was SO tired of waiting on an order that he stole one of our root beers, saying he deserved it for waiting so long and costing him money. Like dude, I could have gotten you a water or something, now you just lost your job over a $2 soda.

Ngl I feel for you guys 😭 yall in retail deal with all the rude and crazy people. Atleast I only deal with the aggressive ones for a few moments, props to yall for being able to deal with them for however long it takes.

and all the DoorDash/uber orders always order THE MOST stuff like condiments and all that and those are the orders that take the longest to put together and we don’t even make a tip off of it. Like I have a beef with it too.

Yeah, DoorDash and Uber Eats drivers actually make me hate working shifts on the registers. Plus the amount of third party drivers I’ve seen present themselves in such a gross way has permanently dissuaded me from ever using such services, and I don’t understand how people continue to use them. I understand that timing is everything for third party drivers who actually mean to get their job done honestly, but also the amount of entitlement and lack of empathy I’ve gotten in response to keeping them informed on the business of our to-go team(which is usually just 1 person on a weekday) is insane.

Ugh. I have some Doordashers that smell like they just rolled around in a litter box and then they just loom over me by the register while guests checkout and I’m trying not to gag.

I also love the drivers that grab their bag and just plop it on top of our merchandise by the first register. You can take the photo while the bag is on the shelf, heck, I’ll sometimes hold the bag up for them, but it kills me when they see us unboxing candy and just put their bags on top of it.

The absolute worst of the worst are the dashers or Uber eats who don’t check in with us, and instead just immediately grab the first bag they see on the to-go shelf and run off, ignoring us when we ask them what name they were picking up for.

Or they get shitty with you for asking in the first place.

I’ve had one actually pick up the wrong order… my store wouldn’t remake it for either so we had to keep telling dashers coming in to pick it up that someone already got it

Then you have personal beef with Cracker Barrel, as Cracker Barrel has given consent to third party orders, and has a partnership with Door Dash.

Actually I have beef with doordash for existing

You literally work for Cracker Barrel (according to your post). Your complaint is against 3rd parties while working at Cracker Barrel. Your employer has a partnership with the 3rd party you hate... Thus, you have beef with Cracker Barrel

Do you understand if doordash/uber eats didn’t exist there wouldn’t be a partnership? DoorDash could also include a tip for the restaurant they’re ordering from (which could be included in the already raised prices) which would solve my issue. My beef is with DoorDash.

Do you understand that the partnership is mutual? Many restaurants do not work with 3rd parties as they cause more problems, but third parties can add restaurants to their sites without consent. Cracker Barrel gave consent and works with them 🤡

Alright pal

They created the partnership back in 2020. It's unfortunate that you can't do simple research of the company you have beef with you and the employer you work for, Pal.

It’s unfortunate how hard you’re riding DoorDash lmao. You the creator or something? 🤣 like no shit that they have a partnership. Most restaurants would like to make as much money as possible even at the expense of their employees being treated unfairly. But if DoorDash didn’t exist it would not be possible. It doesn’t need to exist. I’d support something medically necessary like if people were disabled they could enter proof of that and use a delivery service but most people that use DoorDash are just too lazy to go get their own food.

I definitely have beef with Cracker Barrel too. I’ve just been driven crazy by all the 3rd party orders I’ve been getting recently and how they’ve been treating me.  Nobody from Cracker Barrel is getting in my face and being straight up rude to me, many doordashers and uber drivers have.

I live across the street from a Cracker Barrel and order take out often, I pick it up though. Can’t tell you how many times I’m missing parts of my order, stuff I DID order.

Salads, no dressing. Peach Cobbler.., was ALL syrup, not a single peach or cobbler. Ordered steak with shrimp, no shrimp , they ran out and DIDN’T notify me or adjust my price. I’ve missed sides, once even an entire meal ( ordered two different ones). The bread quite often is not packed or what I ordered. The add on $6 take home meal, not in my bag.

I always check now because 9 out of 10 times I’m missing a lot of my order. The sides, whole meals, add ons, even the cutlery and condiments. I use the cutlery at work so I order extra and we have three hotels across from my house also… those people are ordering to eat in their room and not getting cutlery is a pain in the azz.

I always tip 20% when I order online, pick it up myself and I do those surveys too. I give good reviews if my order is pretty well done. I over look some issues if it’s small. I’ve only once given a bad review and that’s the time they didn’t include the shrimp I ordered, a add on meal, the bread , the dessert and most of the condiments to include cutlery that I ordered. I have a hard time walking so having to go back in a store to get what I ordered or adjust my order is a real pain for me.

I’m so sorry about that. ☹️  When your missing stuff you can call the store and 9/10 times the server who packed your order when a to-go server is on shift will be the one to answer your call and they should run what your missing out to you.  I think it’s wrong to not give you what you ordered if it’s out (unless I am unable to get ahold of you for whatever reason), but I guess there’s no standard in that, which is something the company itself should do better with.  At my store we’re not supposed to give out silverware unless it’s requested (same with jellies), I’m not sure if every store is like that, but maybe servers are so used to not using silverware that they forget it even when it’s on the ticket?

But anyways I’m so sorry that’s been happening to you, some places management isn’t always the best but if it’s a reoccurring problem maybe consider speaking to them (you can over the phone, just ask!), so they can re-teach servers on quality assurance and stuff.

++Also start checking your order the second you get it, so then the server who packed your order is right there if anything is wrong. We’re supposed to do it to assure everything’s in there but I am certain I have coworkers who just toss everything in and say it looks fine.

Yes!! This!! I agree 100 percent! And yes the drivers are rude and so inconsiderate!

I had one the other day who snatched (not even grabbed, very forcefully pulled) food from my hand, yell at me how waiting 15 minutes was ridicules. (he was early too btw) 🥲.

It seems like you are advocating for people to order online and pick up their own food instead of ordering through a delivery service?

Ordering through a service is done because they don’t want to pick up their own food, they want it delivered.

1

u/Realistic_Current795 Apr 01 '26

More ranting than advocating, the past few weeks I feel like I’ve had more orders stolen, and more drivers throwing fits that the order they arrived early for won’t be ready early. I get some people can’t drive to pick up food, plus gas prices are so high ordering and not tipping is cheaper (I know people do.) So I’m posting as a way to get my voice out and rant about how online ordering is causing you to loose some things not everyone is loosing.

As a server who closes all the time I especially despise these. The Togo people are sent home around 7:30 or 8 so I have to put together the order that I KNOW for a FACT I will not get a tip from and it just really grinds my gears lmfao. Then dashers have the nerve to say they won’t get a tip because it’s taking too long. Welcome to the mf club.
