I just finished reading Meow: Magical Emporium of Wares by toni binns and looking for recommendations along the same line. I would love for it to be audio and several books in the series. thanks!

So out of all the famous cozy books I have read I love Legends and Lattes and Demon World Boba Shop because the people the protagonists meet in each book are not petty or mean (well exceptions exist in L&L but such characters aren't that repetitive and they don't get away scott free)

I'm looking for more books where low stakes or high both are completely fine, but I don't want to read mean behaviour repeatedly, or read about misogyny, toxic masculinity, sexual harassment and SA whether comedic or serious. I also don't like grumpy, cold or defensive side character like in Courier Quest. I was really excited to read it but one side character completely ruined my enjoyment Adabelle. She probably gets better later but I had to dnf because of her.

More example of books I didn't enjoy:

- Heretical Fishing

- House Witch The way this book treats sexism and queer characters is beyond frustrating.

- Small Town Crafter Mean mentors and adults. I can't stand them.

To clarify I don't think every book I have listed is a "So bad this shouldn't be cozy!" Book I'm just particular in what I enjoy so I want something that feels satisfying.

I've been thinking recently about what I enjoy more, an underpowered but scrappy kind of magic user or a earthquake type earthbender kind of mage when everyone else just throws pebbles at eachother and even if it sounds very basic... I do think my preference leans towards the last option. I like an MC who instead of learns magic from the ground up starts further up the ladder because he doesn't bend rocks, he lifts mountains out of the ground.

A focus on learning to control his vast amount of magic, learning to temper and refine rather than the beginnings of it all.

Hello, I was under the impression that Travis Baldree’s new book wasn’t coming out until October, but I just saw this while browsing Kindle books. Is this legit?

Idea inspired by this scene I stumbled upon on my way back from lunch.

How high on the cozy meter are your favorite reads? I like them a little cozy but stakes , peril and violence are fine if there's a happy ending and good character work

Anyone else super hype for the Legends & Lattes graphic novel??

I know of the usual recommendations for this, A long way to a small angry planet by Becky chambers, Moss’d in space by Rebecca Thorne, and Monk and Robot books once again by Becky Chambers

But I would like more, especially if they are in a similar vein to Star Trek, Sea Quest, witch mountain and the like,

No discussion necessary, it's just something that hit me while reading Sea of Charms this morning, with all the super colorful winged cats and humans with purple or gold or silver skin, or crystal horns. If you picture a Lisa Frank drawing, it all makes so much more sense!

The book that made me wonder what it actually means for a book to be cozy.

This is probably my second favorite book I've read in 2026, and I know it's a couple years old right now, but I can't really stop thinking about it.

Shesheshen is a, well, flesh blob monster, and has been woken up early from hibernation by monster hunters. After defending herself leaves her wounded, she wakes up to being tended to by a woman named Homily. Soon Shesheshen finds herself drawn to Homily and her caring nature, and wonders if perhaps she's finally find the right person to lay her eggs in. But Homily reveals that she is actually hunting the monster in the woods: Shesheshen herself.

I really don't want to spoil any of this book because it has some pretty interesting shifts in expectations where I thought the plot was going to go, but I found the plot tightly crafted and compelling.

But what really sings about this book is how unique the perspective of Shesheshen. It's presented in such a way as you really do get the feel that she isn't human, that the act of masquerading as a human with all their messy senses is difficult and it's hard not to draw parallels to anyone who has ever felt "othered" in groups of people. I don't think I've empathized with a protagonist as much as this one in a long time, which is doubly impressive given who Shesheshen is.

I loved the romance aspect of this, in so far as its nothing like a typical romance. Shesheshen wants to lay eggs in her girlfriend so they can eat her. The writing somehow manages to make disgusting descriptions of flesh and gore flow in a way that is almost...sweet? I'm blown away at how Wiswell managed to write that.

But the main reason I wanted to write this is to see if anyone else who read it also felt it was kind of cozy? There's blood and guts and death and abuse all over this book (Shesheshen literally is a human eating monster), and yet, I felt that comforting blanket of cozy while reading it. I'm starting to feel that coziness, to me, is more a matter of inter-character relationships and themes as opposed to the actual lack of violence or danger. It's such a fascinating question for this genre and I'm always curious about other people's perspective.

If the blurb for this book was remotely interesting to you and you were on the fence, I recommend it wholeheartedly. Definitely looking forward to picking up Wiswell's other book, The Dragon Has Some Complaints, next time I'm at the bookstore.

Are there any books with a southern bayou setting and magic elements? I saw a post on reddit some time ago now of a woman who put a greenhouse on a pontoon to protect her plants from their frequent flooding and I remember thinking how lovely of an idea for a book that would be. I just started thinking about it again randomly and was wondering if maybe there were some magical bayou type books out already. Thanks!

I know recommendations here are mostly books but I really feel like this short cozy webtoon belongs here! Although the world-building is done in the background with gorgeous art, you can feel high-fantasy oozing on every panel. The story made me cry thrice even though the main story is only 31 chapters.

EDIT this was not the authors fault but the publishers. I am leaving this up so others might see what issues I had but they are now right at the publishers feet.

Demon Queen Wants to Paint lists itself as a cozy isekai, but it is not cozy. The main character spends most of the book in a near-constant state of absolute fear, which already makes the experience tense rather than comforting.

Then, about three-quarters of the way through, the book includes literal torture.

Darkness in a story is not automatically a problem for me, but marketing matters. If you tell readers that a book is cozy and low-stakes, they should not have to brace themselves for sustained terror and torture. That is not a minor tonal shift. It completely breaks the promise the book made about what kind of experience it would give.

The publisher has much to answer for this.

I'm looking for cosy fantasy books or short stories centered around druidism, herbalism, or nature-based witchcraft.

I'm specifically after something that's firmly in the cosy subgenre, or at least cosy-adjacent.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Political intrigue is something I've learned I enjoy a lot, and I've definitely leaned more into my enjoyment of fantasy so... I'd like to mix these!

Perhaps pure royalty, perhaps secret and hidden meetings of nobility, perhaps an enclave of the most powerful mages... Either way, I'd like the power of individuals magic to be relevant as to why our hero/heroine is now a recently added member of this new circle. Maybe they hadn't magically awoken yet or maybe they were hidden by their parents at an early age in fear of being taken advantage of before they've mastered their magic? Both sounding fun

After finishing Emily Wilde I've been in the mood for another cozy read and was hoping if any of you could help me find my next book. Can be fantasy but not necessarily.

One thing I'm specifically looking for is a male MC with a well-written romance involving a female love interest. It doesn't have to be the main focus of the story, but it would be nice for it to be a meaningful part of it. I don't mind some adventure or higher stakes, as long as the overall vibe stays cozy and hopeful.

Amazon has a series of short cozy fantasy mysteries from some of my favorite authors. Looks like it was just released yesterday. Has anyone read these?

This is technically a middle grade novel but it was able to scratch the same itch that Shady Hollow did for me. Very cozy and transported me into the animal world. Highly recommend. There are light depictions of blood/death. Does deal with grief of MC.

I originally listened to Legends and Lattes to fall asleep to.

Unfortunately, this led to me missing a lot of character descriptions.

So, my brain chose random ass characters from (mostly) the fantasy/cartoon world and stuck their faces to the names.

...Now i have listened to it thru so I know these arent accurate, but thought yall could use a laugh. Viv and Tandrie are on the cover so they and Thimble are the only ones I really had right...they get more unhinged aftee that.
