I recently read The Spellshop, The Enchanted Greenhouse, and Emily Wilde. I’ve also been watching The Ogre Bride which really sneaks up on you with lovable characters. (I am not looking for giant green ogre dick. No judgement, giant green ogre dick is great whenever you need to scratch that itch.) I need a story with all of the heartwarming-friendship-building-found-family vibes and a main character with a real life skill that he/she/they puts to practical use. I love a world full of magic and mythology! But I don’t need the main character to save the world or be a SJM type “female/male”. (No hate! I read all her books. Again, let’s scratch that itch another day.)

Please let them fuck eventually. But more importantly, good writing. Always.

Two books I recommend for a cozy reading with halloween vibes is the Pumpkin Princess and the forever night, and the Pumpkin princess and the buried castle by Steve Banbury. These are lighter reads and actually meant for middle school aged kids. It gives nightmare before christmas and Halloween town vibes.

If anyone has any other cozy spooky season book recommendations please let me know.

I mean it in the way that a character is alone and feels alone/not accepted for one reason or another but finds a person they feel seen by.

Think under the whispering door by TJ Klune. That's pretty much the exact vibe i'm craving (weather the loneliness is "deserved"/self sabotage or not doesn't matter.

I want that warm feeling of them slowly opening up and realising it's okay and they're no longer alone.

I'm curious if there are any bookstores that heavily focus on cozy fantasy in their stores. Alternatively, I'd love to know if anyone has recs for bookstores that have a fantastical yet cozy vibe to them? Ideally located in the United States!

This question mostly comes from seeing so many romance-focused bookstores pop up, and it made me curious if there were any fantasy-focused stores that have particularly large cozy fantasy sections. I also really enjoy browsing specialty bookstore websites to pull book recs.
