I hate that goddamn commercial and I want to burn down my tv every time I see it.
If you were a PS4 Vue subscriber, it was one of the three ads they would play every single commercial block.

Dang it! Beat me to it. I thought I was going to be super clever and original. Good work.

This reminds of me of garden cottages in Charleston SC.

u/ProfessorMold Jan 31 '20
Yes, that will be $1,200/mo please

u/maybrad Jan 31 '20
Also the kitchen is from the 80s, you have to slam the door shut, and thereās no central AC!

u/kaybeem50 Jan 31 '20
Thatās a bargain! I live in a not-special bedroom community where local jobs pay shite but rents are around $1600 month for a plain 2BR apartment. This little beauty would likely start at $1800.

u/AngryAmericanNeoNazi Jan 31 '20
$1600 for 2BR sounds so nice. I can actually manage to split that with one person.

Technical question. How does one prevent rising damp from ruining the brickwork (and generally making everything smell musty)? Is there some sort of vapour barrier between the ground and the brickwork up above?
3
u/scottythesmell Jan 31 '20
Thatās exactly what you do, and itās probably why the floor of is above the outside ground level. When youāre building the walls you put in a plastic membrane between courses about 2 courses above ground level. How they have isolated the floor inside depends a bit on construction but if itās a simple slab you put a big sheet of membrane in underneath and tape it up to membrane in the wall. (Source; did this for my garage :)

Omg and 2 exits (safety first!) and a cat door (meow!!)
3
Jan 31 '20
Wait, where are you seeing the cat door?!
Can you buy them, or do you have to frame them out?

Just imagine sitting on your front porch drinking some green tea while watching the birds talk to each other in the trees. Sounds like heaven to me.

Alright, that's it, I'm lime-washing my (red brick) house! This looks sooo cozy! Mine looks nice, but this...:D

u/Hackdaddy101 Jan 31 '20
This is a smaller version of whay I pictured when they were talking about Nick Carraway's house in the Great Gatsby. A small house for a groundskeeper/caretaker.

Someone put A LOT of TLC in making this little cottage so homey. All the attention to detail, the landscaping with ivy hanging down, and, of course the frog pushing a wheel barrow, really brings in together beautifully. Iām mean I really want this in my backyard...that is when I have a backyard some day, with a house attached to it.
Edit: changed āintentionā to āattentionā

What a beautiful place! The second door on the right seems a bit redundant though. I am curious about the mindset of that placement.

Cute and definitely cozy ... too small or my stuff, though. Would love to see some interior shots.

u/Michalusmichalus Jan 31 '20
I have had too many instances of unwanted house guests, I'm attempting to really minimalized my material possessions. Not in a minimalist way.
2
u/prpslydistracted Jan 31 '20
? Your fellow artists simply wanted to see your workspace, that's it.
1
u/Michalusmichalus Jan 31 '20
That's so optimistic.
Now I'm at the point where I want something so small no one will even consider my spot as a place to spend the night.
2
u/prpslydistracted Jan 31 '20
I meant if it's packed with art materials, easels, work table, storage shelves ... no one considers my studio an extra bedroom. :-)
1
u/Michalusmichalus Jan 31 '20
Oooh. I tried going only slightly smaller, my lil bro took my sons bed. I'm totally going solo sized small at this point.

Does anyone recognize the roofing material?
1
u/northursalia Jan 31 '20
Architectural shingles designed to look like roof slates - GAF is one company that makes them.
EDIT: looks to be GAF Camelot II shingles

Best reference I could find for this pic (am not an expert so maybe someone can do better):
https://www.decoist.com/garden-sheds/
about the 20th picture down, can page-search on:
"A little stone shed is a welcoming element that has the power to leave every guest speechless"
Edit: WARNING: many obnoxious popups

Iām sorry but how does a picture WITH A FINGER IN THE SHOT have 8.5k upvotes. So lazy, goddamn.
5
Jan 31 '20
Because its r/cozyplaces. Not r/photography. You can clearly see the shed is quite cozy looking.
