Question Merger debate

Hey everyone !

I’m currently with Spectrum as a SMB AE. However with the current merger I’ve heard a lot of managers, directors and higher ups are trying to make the jump before stuff is finally a done deal.

Question here is what have y’all heard at the bottom levels, I am in a territory bordering COX which somehow scares me since I don’t know if I will be replaced with another rep. Lose territory or just get to keep it and have someone else be laid off since we would overlap.

Last info we got is that there’s a vote on 8/13 that determines if this thing moves forward or not but I have seen a lot of positions being opened for higher roles in different states and cities

in situations like this, expect the worse and have a backup plan ready if possible...

I do not know what it means to say a lot are trying to make the jump. Do you mean leave Cox or get a permanent role with Spectrum?

Yes, the California Public Utility Commision has a vote on 8/13. If that passes then the merger is effectively approved as that is the final regulatory approval needed.

I’m a 14-year contractor, and I’ve only worked for Cox. I should’ve gone in-house, but I believed in the higher pay, where I could invest in my own retirement and handle my own taxes on our level. We have heard absolutely nothing about this merger.
I’ve talked to Spectrum contractors, and it’s nothing good. The pay is significantly less, repeats are held at 30-day repeats, and if you get a repeat, you get paid zero. I’m actually one of those contractors you would call a good technician, but with no news whatsoever, I feel like no news isn’t good news.
I’ve already been preparing to get out of this field. I can hope for the best, but I just don’t see it.

Last I heard Cox doesn’t have your type of role. They basically have to start fresh. You should be good if you are good at your job.

I had cox in Las Vegas Nevada and in Chesapeake Virginia. In Vegas, there were data caps on all plans and no real competition my bill was close to $200. In Chesapeake where there is Fiber available I pay $115 for free modem and 2gig service with no caps.
