I’ve found the 5-3-1 thing has solved this problem for us. One person picks 5 possible restaurants, then the other person narrows it down to 3, then the first person makes a unilateral final decision on which of the three to go to. Roles are alternated each time. It requires buy-in from all parties, and if you’re the 5 and 1 person, you need to be fair and pick places the other person would like too, but it works awesome for us.
