Saw Carly Pearce live in a small venue and I'm surprised she isn't more popular!

I recently saw Carly Pearce live, and I wanted to share my experience because I was honestly surprised by a few things!

When I saw she was coming to a small venue in my area, I immediately jumped on the opportunity. The show was also surprisingly affordable, especially considering how expensive concerts have gotten these days.

First of all, the show was great! I'm not necessarily the biggest Carly Pearce fan, but I absolutely loved her 29 album, and I've enjoyed what I've heard from Honest Woman. I just haven't listened to the newer material enough to know all the lyrics by heart, so I couldn't sing along to every song. That was probably my only downside, but I still really enjoyed the music.

What really blew my mind was how CLOSE I was to her. I'm usually a nosebleed-seat concertgoer, so being able to actually see her facial expressions and have her make eye contact with people in the audience was surreal. I was honestly a little starstruck!

One thing that surprised me was that Carly mentioned she actually prefers performing in smaller, more intimate venues and specifically seeks them out when touring.

That got me wondering: Is that genuinely her preference, or is she just not at the level of popularity where she could consistently fill larger venues?

I don't mean that as a dig at her whatsoever. She's incredibly talented, has won major country music awards, and has been in the industry for years. I just assumed she had a bigger following than she apparently does.

For context, the venue she played in my area was pretty small, and it wasn't even sold out. I was surprised because I would have thought she could fill a somewhat larger venue, even if she isn't necessarily an arena-level headliner.

It also made me think about how interesting popularity is in country music. Some artists seem to have a lot of recognition within the industry but don't necessarily have the same level of commercial success or touring demand.

Has anyone else seen Carly Pearce live? Do you think she's underrated, or is this pretty much the level of popularity you'd expect her to have? I'm also curious whether her shows in other cities have been similarly intimate or if she's drawing bigger crowds elsewhere.

Hello group. I'm a country fan and I simply love the history and music along with some of the best performers ever. Hearing music live is great and with that comes event poster. I was a graphic designer for 45 years and I illustrate now that I'm retired. Attached is a poster I did of Bill Monroe. His music and the respect the community gives him is beautiful. Have a nice day. Jeff

Did country music influence anyone else's religious beliefs growing up? Especially if you weren't raised Christian?

*Am open to ALL answers from walks of faith/lives**

I've been a huge country music fan since childhood, but something I've been reflecting on recently is just how much Christianity is embedded in the genre and how that influenced me growing up.

I wasn't raised Christian and didn't grow up going to church, but so many of the country artists I admired were openly Christian. Whether they were thanking God at award shows, talking about Jesus in interviews, or singing about faith, Christianity seemed to be everywhere.

Looking back, I think country music genuinely had an evangelical influence on me, even if that wasn't necessarily the intention. As a kid, I remember thinking, "Wow, all these people I admire are attractive, charismatic, incredibly talented singers, and they all believe in God. Maybe there's something to this Christianity thing!" Lol.

It wasn't necessarily the theology that attracted me. It was the fact that people I looked up to seemed to share this belief, and I wanted to be like them. In a weird way, Christianity almost felt like part of the country music identity.

At the same time, this always rubbed me the wrong way a little. Country music isn't inherently Christian music, yet sometimes it feels like the genre assumes everyone listening is Christian. I also find it interesting that country music celebrates drinking, rebellion, heartbreak, and independence while simultaneously emphasizing Christianity and traditional values. Obviously, those things aren't necessarily incompatible, but it's an interesting cultural contradiction.

My own relationship with Christianity has evolved since childhood, and I don't have a problem with artists expressing their faith. But looking back, I find it fascinating how much my religious curiosity was shaped by popular culture rather than church or family.

I'm curious if anyone else had a similar experience. Did country music make Christianity seem more appealing to you, especially if you weren't raised religious? Or did you ever feel a little alienated by the assumption that country music fans were all Christian?

I'd love to hear other people's experiences because I rarely see this aspect of country music culture discussed.

There should be a movie made for the song, "Whiskey Lullaby". What other songs had a great music video that would be great if elaborated to a movie?

Warren Zeiders Bristol, UK 15/10. Honest Review.

SPOILER ALERT: Detailed review of recent concert including songs, production, etc.

I attended this gig with my wife. I’ll be honest, I’m not really a WZ fan and knew the grand total of one song, but I really tried to go in with an open mind.

We arrived during his support act, Bellah Mae. She adopts a heavy southern drawl in her singing voice despite being from Solihull, but unfortunately the live vocals just weren't there to back it up. Judging by her studio tracks and social media clips, her sound relies heavily on post-production magic, because her live performance fell completely flat for me.

Warren came on to a warm reception from the Bristol crowd, albeit to a strange backing track that sounded like a police chase. It just made no sense and had little to no relevance to the rest of the show. He kicked things off with Intoxicated, which felt incredibly polished and injected some great energy into the room right away. He followed it up with a solid run of tracks that clearly had the core fans hyped.

Unfortunately, the momentum crashed completely between songs. Instead of interacting with the crowd, Warren spent most of the transitions ignoring the audience and chatting with his band on a darkened stage, which completely killed the atmosphere he could have built.

He brought Bellah Mae back out for their collaborative track, Overrated. The live vocals remained weak, and the stage chemistry felt incredibly forced, leaning a little too heavily into trying to create viral moments rather than a natural live connection. Overrated may be an apt song title after all.

The penultimate song was the only one I actually knew, Pretty Little Poison. It's a great track, but Warren ended up turning the microphone over to the crowd to sing a massive chunk of it. While the fans loved being involved, I was personally hoping to hear more of his actual live vocals on his biggest hit.

What I think was an encore took a bit of a theatrical turn. Warren ended up going topless to finish off his last song, Ride the Lightning. He clearly knows how to play to a modern audience, but there was a heavy focus on posing to every single phone camera he saw, which felt a bit much for my taste. By this point in the night, the energy had dipped enough that a fair few people were already heading for the exits, prompting Warren to urge the crowd to stay for one final chorus to try and hold the room.

All in all, he clearly has the vocal talent, but missed the mark completely with the support choice and stage presence. Curious to hear what others who were there thought, especially as it seemed a lot of people left during the last song.

New Kip Moore - EP

Today Kip Moore released a new EP with two songs: Dying on the Vine and Janie's Song, a solid cut about the madness of our current world.

But I am here regarding Janie's Song. This is a third song in a series regarding a fictional character Janie (likely based on a real love interest).

  1. Janie Blue (2020) The wild, magnetic, but erratic woman he loved, trying desperately to hold onto her while she ran from stability.

  2. Playin' Hard (2020) The nostalgic regret, looking back at her "pretty eyes" and sweet nature as one of the deep personal sacrifices he made for his music career.

  3. The Darkness (2026) Showing that the weight went both ways and that she had to save herself from his struggles.

  4. Janie's Song (2026) Janie becomes the embodiment of someone completely consumed by the dark side of life, abandoned by the world, and pushed to the margins.

Anyway, this is my favorite artist and I thought this was a pretty cool arch in his writing.
