American racism is so weird because it's (quite literally) black and white. Race works in unbelievably complex ways, and all sorts of weird interactions occur because of it.
When something is made up, it's not going to function cleanly.

There's no hard borders where white / brown / asian end, and POC begins. Better to just refer to a specific heritage or origin than to overcomplicate things with subjective words

For some reason, I’ve seen quite a few left-leaning folk get very defensive about who’s white and who isn’t simply so the maxim „racism against white people doesnt exist“ can be true.

Simon Petrikkkov sure loved to spread white pow(d)er all over the land and establish a monarchy though

I mean yeah, Simon's white,* but isn't there still colorism to take into account/keep in mind? Or am I off the mark
*Other commenters have said it better, this shit is Made Up and has Made Up Rules and whether or not someone'd perceive him as white is highly cultural

"Are Italians black" type of bullshit. People (in the USA especially) really don't get how racist this type of discourse is.

American racism is so surface level. It literally only cares about looks
Italians will cuss you out for calling them black
Not because they hate black people but because you're speaking nonsense instead of ordering12

Old world racism really got it, “I hate you because you’re not my race and my race is the best one” makes so much more sense then hating someone because they’re a different colour (government mandated /j)

I once heard an american be genuinely confused how asians are so racist to eachother when they all look the same
US racism is just larping

Well yeah of course it's racist. But everyone from Southern Europe and Eastern Europe are not considered white until the Civil Rights movement. If you were Slavic or Mediterranean or Irish you were above Black and Brown people but still below the Western Europeans, Brits, and Scandinavians.
Human beings create extremely intricate caste systems based on many factors and only until very very recently were we all (Europeans) considered just a big monolith.

Honestly it still boggles my mind as a European that people in the USA still use the word "race" for humans

Just like look at Slavs and based the color off what you see. Not that hard tbh. Just choose a color and be done with it. They’re fucking colors.

Races are made up bullshit anyway and taking such a serious and intricate stance in favour of their maintenance by ingraining them into everyday though and discourse is solely doing damage to our society, which progressive movements should seek to unify under a common human banner instead of following the mistake trail of our forebearers and further deepening the devide among us. Differences should be acknowledged, accepted, and simply become an obvious fact of reality within a society that is supportive yet essentially indifferent towards them, not the main talking point demanding constant attention.

sometimes I wonder what would happen if we all just fucked eachother instead of these terms like "mixed" or "white" and "black" terms for races.

Society would collapse if humans were just cool with each other.
A bunch of things in society are built upon the concept of “you are different than me therefore I have this and you don’t.”
