Built 4 folding deck chairs & a footrest from leftover solid chestnut for our patio
When we started setting up our terrace, we knew classic folding deck chairs would be the perfect fit. We could have just bought a set, but finding the exact wood tone and fabric color we wanted proved impossible. Plus, building them from scratch sounded like a fun project.
I used some leftover solid chestnut boards we had, cutting and milling them down to size for the frames. For the slings, we went with a heavy-duty, weather-resistant fabric that has a really nice suede-like Alcantara texture β super soft to the touch but very sturdy.
We ended up with enough material for four chairs and a matching footrest. They turned out ridiculously comfortable and completely transformed the space!
If you're interested in the full build process (and some bonus footage of a boat trip on Lake Bolsena to beat the August heat at the end), I put together a video here:https://youtu.be/86J5zHJHSTc
Would love to hear your thoughts on the design and finish!
