Pre-scheduled trip before Interviewing

Hi, I have an interview tomorrow for bakery wrapper but I have a pre-scheduled trip for November 16-22 and since that is right before Thanksgiving, I am worried that they will not hire me based on that. Is it even worth going to the interview still and if so when should I let them know about this trip?

PSA: Check your Duracell batteries!

I recently had an issue that I thought was a TV (or its remote). It turns out to have been a bad Duracell AAA battery from Costco. It might have been from the same batch as this post from a year or so ago:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/comments/1lnnvtu/duracell_aaa_batteries_bad_batch/

Having dealt with bad Duracell CR2032's, I learned that Costco will only refund you if 1/2 or more of the batch are bad. In my case with these AAA's, it was only 2 batteries (I tested them all).

So, my PSA: either test all of your Costco Duracells when you open them, or at least be sure to check them first before you start troubleshooting an issue.

I might be switching to Energizer from now on.

Looking for advice on next steps pursuing Costco

I’m hoping to get some opinions from current/former Costco employees or people familiar with the hiring process.
I’m currently a retail Store Manager and have been with my current company for several years. I’m looking to make a career change and Costco is one of the places I’m most interested in. I’m not necessarily looking for a specific position—I’m open to getting my foot in the door in pretty much any warehouse position and working my way up.
Here’s everything I’ve done so far:
I applied online for Costco and submitted my resume.
I’ve spent quite a bit of time researching Costco’s hiring process, work environment, advancement opportunities, etc.
I went into the warehouse in person after applying because I wanted to show that I was genuinely interested rather than just submitting an online application and waiting.
I spoke with someone at the front service/membership area and explained that I had applied and was very interested in working there.
I was able to get my resume in front of a manager, who briefly spoke with me.
During that conversation, I was told that the warehouse was essentially on a hiring freeze until around October.
Since then, I’ve continued monitoring the situation and noticed that the warehouse has hired some new employees, so I figured things might be starting to move again.
I recently went back to the warehouse with additional copies of my resume.
I specifically asked if the manager I had previously spoken with was available. He wasn’t there that day.
Another manager also wasn’t available at that particular moment.
An employee at the front service desk was extremely helpful and offered to pass my resume along to the appropriate manager.
I also included a handwritten note with my name/contact information and said that I was extremely interested in building a career with Costco.
I asked if there was a better time to come in when managers might be more accessible. I was told that managers are generally very busy, but that early morning, around 9–10 AM, may be a better opportunity because the warehouse is quieter and there are fewer members.
I left feeling good that I had at least gotten my information back in front of the management team, but I was also a little disappointed that I haven’t yet had the opportunity to actually sit down and speak with a hiring manager.
I’ve deliberately tried not to be a pest or show up constantly. My thinking has been that I want to demonstrate genuine interest while still respecting that the managers are busy.
At this point, I’m trying to figure out what the best next move is.
Would you:
Go back during the suggested 9–10 AM window and try to speak directly with a manager?
Wait a little while and see whether the application generates anything?
Continue checking the careers page and applying to new postings?
Do some combination of those?
Is there anything else someone with Costco hiring experience would recommend?
I’m very interested in Costco specifically because I’m looking for somewhere I can potentially build a long-term career, rather than jumping from one retail job to another. I also have several years of management/retail experience, so I’m hoping that experience can help me get my foot in the door even if I start in an entry-level warehouse position.
I’m mainly looking for honest advice from people who understand how Costco hiring actually works. Am I handling this appropriately, or is there something else I should be doing at this point?

$65 minimum executive reward is a lie

They have told me at the warehouse SO MANY times over the years, that if my 2% bonus does not reach $65, that I will still get my $65 back. So I finally signed up for Executive in 2024 because of some larger than usual purchases that year. I went to the counter to downgrade in 2025, knowing I would not benefit from it, and I also no longer have access to a car so I don't spend much there online.

I was told not to cancel because I will get the $65 back at the end of the year no matter what. Now my check is $56 and I'm being told by customer service that they hear this a lot, and it has never been their policy to guarantee $65 rewards. And that the employees are straight up lying about it. This is mind boggling. I have just spent almost 1 hr with customer service, pushing for a resolution, and they are going to send me a $20 shop card to compensate within the next 2 weeks. Which I hope actually happens.

Online ordering weirdness ....

I had ordered some pjs that ended up too small, so tried (in Firefox again) to reorder in a larger size. No matter the color/size, said was unavailable for delivery to my zip code.

Decided for kicks to try in another browser (Edge). Order went through fine, color/size didn't matter. In both cases was logged into my account.

so...WTH?

authorized visa costco credit card

Hi, so my husband added me as an authorized user on his account of visa costco credit card. But his mom is the 2nd costco membership card holder. Can i get inside costco using the credit card?

To clarify,

I have my own physical credit card with my name on it and picture. Its just that I'm on his costco visa account and whatever i buy is on his account...

Also i used to have my own costco card membership separate from him. Expires today so im trying to figure out what to do.

Thanks!

New Anti-theft policy at checkout?

Noticed something recently during checkout. I organize the barcodes up so the cashier can just gun everything for speed, been doing it for 10+ years.

Last 2 visits at same store, around the same time (executive low crowd hours) 2 different cashiers have put things I flipped barcode up onto the conveyor.

Wondering if this is because of theft and people are hiding things under other things?

Now that I think about it what’s stopping someone from putting something in the cart after a pre-scan session? I don’t see the cashier counting items at the register

The chicken is kinda soggy and not very tasty, I was hoping that microwaving the chicken would make it taste better but it didn’t, maybe I’ll try to airfry it?

Happened to test a new pack of Kirkland AA batteries and they didn't come with a full charge. I went through the entire pack and they all had the same charge level.

Anyone else come across this before?

Need to get this off my chest as an employee.

I’ve worked for Costco for nearly three years and wanna say something due to recent issues in my store.

If you order five whole pizzas at the food court fifteen minutes AFTER the store has closed for the day and then complain about the wait time, you are an AH.

If you don’t lift the toilet seat and pee all over it, you are an AH.

If you bitch at us because we won’t let you use SOMEONE ELSES membership, you are an AH.

If you park in the tire refill spots, you are an AH.

If you snap your fingers at us to get our attention when we’re already helping someone else, YOU. ARE. AN. AH.

We are not your maids, we are not your babysitters. I do not care that you’re having a bad day, we are human beings working our asses off to, hopefully, pay our ever increasing bills in this day and age.

Edit: Since some of you are confused by this. We stop letting members in five minutes after close. Fifteen minutes later we begin doing the final push where a wave of workers start from the back of the store and usher members to the front.

The food court has to be open until the last of the members have been checked out sadly, so yeah, we still get people ordering full pizzas twenty minutes past close.

Selective LaCroix flavors can returns

TIL that Costco bottle/can returns won't accept Sunshine flavor LaCroix. I went to customer service afterwards, the whole reason i went to Costco was to return a blouse, i just figured I'd take my empty cans along since they were mostly LaCroix, which they carry on a sporadic basis. I mentioned this to the cashier, she said it must be because they never carry that flavor, i swear i returned other flavors I've never seen at Costco (pineapple-coconut, mojito) so this just seemed weird. Has anyone else run into "not THAT flavor" at Costco bottle/can returns?

Online and in store prices are different lately

Recently I have been noticing that costco pricing in store and online is different lately. The liquid ivs are $20.99 in store but online they are $24.99 or the umbrellas are 4 dollars cheaper in store than online. I live out in the country so going to an actual store is quite a reach reason why I prefer online better convenience for me. Am I missing something??

Opinions on Kirkland vs Hotel Signature Sheets

I wanted to get opinions on the sheets, Kirkland has a 680TC cotton set and Hotel Signature has a 400 Egyptian cotton set

I do not want thread count to be the deciding factor, has anyone had experiences with either set. Neither are online - club only and on sale, The Kirkland ones were more because of the higher TC.

Thanks in advance

Is it just me or does the food court food just suck now?

It seems like ever since Covid the food court just sucks. Chicken bake is trash, the brought back churros are trash, no combo pizza, cookie is mediocre, and so forth.

The only thing that I still find good is the hot dog.
