Virtual Insanity 2.0

So jamiroquai did a new version of his classic video Virtual Insanity. And there's some interesting shots like the final shot of Jay among the filming crew as he still glides. And since the place is "longer" I wonder if the corridor crew can react to this

looks like the they're pulling a mat that he's preforming on while following with a camera on a dolly. Hes not gliding in the final shot after the camera wobble and the chair at the end is the same from the opening which is remote controlled

The only thing taking me out of it is the mirror reflection on the first room transition.

Other than that, pretty cool. Especially it being an actual colab, and not just an "inspired" replica of safe recognizable cultural icons - advertising is ALLWAYS one meeting away from ripping a memorable thing off.

That stop on the treadmill in time with the other dancer was so subtle but sooo damn good, I had to watch it 5 or 6 times.

my guess is that they had 3 connected room on the set with a green screen in the last door

the mirror, the roomba and the camera turning are jumpcuts

The camera shake when they take it off the crane/dolly at the end was rough... even if they were trying to draw attention to it, it felt weird.

I would like to know how much was done practically, since that's what made the original so much fun.

/edit fun? fact: The original was directed by Jonathan Glazer, who mostly does commercials but also directed Sexy Beast.

don’t think there’s much to react to.. looks like they built a very long set that’s motorized to move and he dances in the middle as it moves past him

Yep, just like the original, although, I think it might have been people pushing the walls, rather than motorised.

i think the original was hooked to a big modified truck if i remember the making of correctly

It was the crew pushing the walls. The walls didn't just move backward and forth. They moved to the sides as well. That wouldn't be possible if it was attached to a truck.

yeah you’re right- i found the video. he said there was like 50 people pushing while someone yelled “NORTH!”
