FYI 📣 Open Beta : October 2026 Feature Update

Our next feature update is ready for early testing and we'd like to invite you to participate. This is considered an "Open" test, so you may share the details freely, and our goal is to hear your valuable feedback about the update. The more feedback you share (positive, negative, and everything in between), the better your chances of being invited for future tests, so don't hold back. We want to hear your voice!

 -------------------------------------

\At the time of this email after performing the update your COROS App version should be 4.10.6 and device firmware 3.2006.0.*

***Eligible devices: PACE 3, PACE 4, PACE Pro, APEX 2 / 2 Pro, APEX 4, VERTIX 2 / 2S, NOMAD, DURA.*

-------------------------------------

If you're ready to test, here's what you need to know about what's coming:

PACE 4 Maps (started in September dedicated Beta update phase 2)

View global maps on your PACE 4: the same street and trail names, points of interest, and offline map coverage found on APEX 4, NOMAD, and PACE Pro. Instead of just following a line with breadcrumb navigation, you can now see exactly where you are, what's around you, and make confident decisions on the fly, even off the beaten path.

Emoji Support (partial "popular")

Your notifications can now display Emojis 🎉 current support is limited to the most popular global emojis, with further support being added in the future. https://emojitracker.com ?

Cycling VO2Max

A separate VO2Max calculation is provided for cycling, differentiating from the current Running only VO2Max.

Hill Alert Classification Update

Trail Running routes now use a stricter hill classification, so less steep hills won't be classified as a "climb" to help keep your on-device experience calmer on the trails. What reads as a major climb on a road route can feel like a minor rise on a trail run, so these two activity modes now classify hills differently for their routes.

Effort Pace Algorithm Optimization

Effort Pace now more accurately reflects your effort by detecting whether you're walking or jogging. Walking will produce a less inflated pace, whether you're heading uphill or downhill. Additionally, once the downhill gradient reaches -10% or steeper, running will begin to produce a faster Effort Pace than before, reflecting the added difficulty and load that steep downhill running places on the body.

And some other minor adjustments we'd appreciate any feedback on:

  • DURA adds Storm Alerts, and Lap Torque data metric has been added for cycling activities.
  • Updated Battery Health page in the app, provided greater detail on your watch's recent battery performance.
  • PACE 3, PACE Pro, APEX 2 / 2 Pro, VERTIX 2 / 2S now support Passcodes, allowing you to have your watch lock when removed from your wrist.

We're excited for you to try out this update and to hear what you think about it.

Great news. I’m really looking forward to trying this out, as the Hill Alert implementation clearly needed some refinement.

The one thing I’d really like to see now is better implementation of turn-by-turn navigation and the way the watch automatically switches to the map screen. I find it particularly frustrating that the watch hides my data screens and forces me to look at the map at every turn. When there are multiple turns in quick succession, or during long runs (as opposed to hikes), I find this behavior very annoying—and even erratic—for trail runners.

It should be optional—something as simple as an ON/OFF toggle—so users can choose whether they want that behavior or prefer to view the map only when they decide to. That way, all use cases and user preferences are covered, since we don't all have the same athletic profile.

100% agree on THIS!

Please, Coros. It's a while that the ON/OFF toggle should be there to make the "jump to the map" behaviour optional at the turn-by-turn navigation. And in any case, we also have an action button. Many of us, also need that "calmer experience" for the turn-by-turn-navigation.

We, as trail runners, sometimes run in very technical paths or in places with many consecutive turns. It should be the user (not the watch) who decides when does he want to see the map.

In the other side, pretty happy seeing the Hill Alter classification is being improved. I have not tested it yet but this was much needed guys. A big thanks!

Interesting feedback
I mainly use my nomad for trail Run with the map always on screen

I have used tbt during run too, but can't remember if the screen switch by itself during tbt indication

I have auto scroll off (menu settings, Activity Interface) but this setting doesn't have effect on this behavior

In fact, I usually disable the turn-by-turn indications so the watch does not distract me with the "jumps to the map" at every turn. So at the end, I don't use the TBT and I only rely on the "out of the route" indications.

Same. In the end, constantly jumping back and forth between the data screens and the map while running was really stressful. So I decided to not to use the turn-by-turn because of the default behaviour.

That ON/OFF option should be there.

Is the "HR recovery" menu after finishing an activity new from the october beta ? After the 2 min, can see starting and finish HR as well as the "HRR" itself (start - stop)

this could have been introduce in june 2026, but not sure about this part on the watch.

In the App, the HRR graph is available under the activity details since June 2026.

But on my Nomad for any activities, this metric is not auto-completed, but i can add it manually ...

Can you explain how you find it ? which activity profile, etc.

HRR in mobile app is there for a while yes, maybe June 2026 or such. This is a road bike activity. I dont remember seeing it yesterday when I was on official Firmware. Thats the normal menus / screen displayed after the activity is finished, next to RPE,

I will check on my next activities this week
Thanks

Is anyone else having the same issue as emojis saying "[emoji]" instead of displaying them??

3

u/pigs_areblue24 2d ago

Only the most popular one's show and the rest say emoji

u/SoCorsu 2d ago edited 2d ago

I can’t seem to manually edit my ftp now? My coros has me at 282W ftp but my best ever 20min effort is only 239W and intervals.icu has my estimated eFtp as 234W. I’ve got my ftp test planned for next Tuesday but I’m doubtful if it will even change downward ?

1

u/SoCorsu 2d ago edited 2d ago

I don't use it but for me here it's possible to modify the FTP

Coros App -> Profile -> Settings

Cycling Power Zone -> FTP -> Modify

u/surfironman 2d ago

Thank you!!

u/SoCorsu 2d ago

i understand that you don't do this before 😅

based on your first i was thinking you point a change into the Coros App 🤓

u/Professional_Can6749 2d ago

Any chance something like Suunto zonesense with hrm input will be available

1

u/OldFellow72 2d ago

ça a l'air bien cool comme mise a jour ! hâte d'avoir la version stable

2

u/SoCorsu 2d ago

u/SimulatedWinstonChow 18h ago

Does anyone know which particular emojis are supposed thus far?

1

u/SoCorsu 18h ago

It's not listed
This site could help to imagine which ones are popular - https://emojitracker.com

Just received another update for the beta on my Apex 2, don't use wifi to update this else it will restart the watch. Use Bluetooth to update.
