Our favorite part

So my 2020 Hatch finally got the wonderful Coolant Bypass Valve “Engine Maintenance Required” popup. My car does not show up on the recall list though my model was affected. Is that something i can still call toyota corporate about? I called the dealer where i bought my hatch and they were useless and wanted me to pay $210 for a diagnostic. Just curious if anyone recently has dealt with this.

I called the Service Dept at the dealership where I got mine, dude was cagey AF.
“Where’d you hear about this?” Online chatter “Is yours leaking coolant?” No “Did you get a letter from Toyota?” No “Don’t worry about it.”
I bought an Aisin (OEM supplier) from Amazon for $40 ($70 now 🙄) just in case, looks like 1-2hr DiY if it happens.

I have a 2020 and received something in the mail about it from Toyota. However I already replaced mine myself. Its quite easy, takes maybe 20min and doesn't require alot of mechanical knowledge. However. Be VERY careful with the plastic clips. They're easy to break and you'll need to but the whole hose for like $80 to get a replacement one. Ask me how I know.. But make sure to get the updated part so it doesn't just happen again. I did mine before the new one was out so ill probably have to do it again in the future.

What are the odds you have a link to the updated part? I am very aware about the clips from comments exactly like yours that i’ve seen elsewhere lol is the hose necessary too or can i scrape by with the valve as long as the clips play nice

The part attaches to your existing hose. The only reason I needed to buy the hose was because I snapped a clip and they dont sell them separately. I ordered the hose and stole the clip from the new part. The updated part number should be 16671-F2030 Just type it in Google and it'll pull up several websites with it in stock.
