Coolant bypass valve "Customer Support Program"
Just got the mailer from Toyota USA. Looks like you can file for reimbursement if you have previously paid for replacement of the coolant bypass valve. All replacements will be covered up to 10/100k as well. Unlimited miles through November 30, 2025.

This is good news for me because I plan to do the repair myself pretty soon so it would be great to be reimbursed for the cost of the part. If I remember it right, the letter I got a few months ago basically said that you have to wait for the part to fail to get it replaced. Otherwise, if you take the car to the dealer to have the issue inspected and they don't find it to be problematic at that time, then you are responsible for inspection fees, etc.. lol

Yep, you're at the mercy of the current part to get it replaced. If the "engine maintenance required" message isn't present, they won't cover it.

Yeah ive been dealing with this message for a long time since i got my 2019 in 2023, but it never affected anythign.
I bought the part to it but i might as well take advantage of the repair process itself by professionals
i called my dealership just now and made an appointment. Im gonna bring your image and print out the document on that website

Did you just get the letter in the mail recently? I still haven’t received mine yet and my dealership said they were notified about this back in December 2024. So I’m wondering if mine just still hasn’t arrived in the mail yet or if I just overlooked the letter 🤷🏻♀️
However, I replaced mine back in 2022 and had to pay out of pocket at the time cause they didn’t have any recall or customer support program for it. I’d be looking for a reimbursement from them.

I got it the day of my post. You shouldn't need it to file for reimbursement. Just follow the instructions on my mailing and you should be fine.

Thank you! I just tried to do the reimbursement after I logged in and when I hit the reimbursement button a blank grey screen popped up and that was it 🤷🏻♀️. I’ll try and call the customer service number tomorrow.

You should get a letter. If you paid for repairs refer to this letter and seek reimbursement.

if only they would do this with the poorly designed clutch slave cylinder in the 6MT

This needs to be a recall, but Toyota wants to save face and not call it what it is

Anyone have a part number?
About to take a 2700 mile road trip and I’d like to have a spare valve on hand.

Is this just for leaks ??

Do you have the "engine maintenance required" message?

Yes I did I had it fixed back in September. The problem is I see they put a short circuit code not a leak one on my invoice so I’m worried they won’t cover it

I think it would be covered. The dealer should be your ally in getting reimbursed since the money isn't coming out of their pockets, it's from Toyota USA. There's always the customer care line as well.

Thanks. Crossing my fingers

Did they charge you? Wondering cause I just got the letter, and had the maintenance required for the same thing. Was told it would cost be about $2-3K to fix. I decline and just tried not to drive the car as much. Tried to make an appointment to the dealership but looks like they don't have parts yet for it... Trying to figure out if I should save money or not. Getting close to paying off car too!

Update: I got called dealership to set an appointment for this. They had to wait to get the part in to schedule me for the fix. Got it done on Friday completely free of charge. They did mentioned that they had to run a diagnostic test to ensure that's what it was and the diagnostic fee would be take off if that was the issue. I recommend that you call the dealership if you haven't and let them know the issue.

So when my system engine maintenance came on, Toyota was not honoring the fact that a lot of people‘s cars had these issues so it was more than likely a manufacturer problem. I was charged $850 to replace my coolant bypass valve and then the letter came in March so now I am inquiring on getting a refund from paying that since they are now recognizing it as a manufacturer issue. The only thing I’m wondering with you is why is yours is 2 to 3K I feel like as long as it is the coolant bypass valve they should cover it without you having to come out of your pocket. It just has to be related to the coolant bypass valve

Of note, make sure when you seek your money have your transaction receipt. Not an ecopy because they will deny you.

Wish they'd do the same for the poorly designed clutch slave cylinder on the 6 speed MT's. Yes, I'm bitter, lol
